I just found small white spots around the fins of my neon tetras, now looking "salty." I purchased Tetra Medica Contra White Spot Treatment. However, the bottle label didn't specify any instructions on how to use the medication. So...
1. How do I use it? How often in a day and how many times in a week?
2. Can I apply it to a community tank with other fish not affected (or seemingly not affected) with white spot disease? Is it safe for other fish?
3. Can I still use the corner filter while applying the medication?
4. Do I still feed my fish with flakes? Do I feed before or after medication?

My betta jumped out of the tank. Not sure how long, but she was pretty dried out when we found her. Put her back, she couldn't swim cos' the fins were all stuck together. Now, fins have opened up, but she has whitish fuzz coming off all over her body. What do I do?

that I did take my dog Lassie to the vet yesterday (reluctantly) and the vet said she was in extremely good health for her age (17yrs). She gave her antibiotics just in case it was an infection and not her age (weeing everywhere) but she didn't think so. Her heart was strong and lungs were fine, so there is still life in the old dog yet!! I was so relieved to come back home with her as were all the family. So thank you all for your kind words and support recently. We will be buying another doggy stocking this Xmas! xx

One or two people recently have asked whether they should get their pre-school children a dog for Christmas. I have received a violation for answering one which 'insulted her intelligence'. I answered on the same level as the question. Anybody else agree a Dog is for Life and Not Just for Christmas?

I have just taken my lurcher out for his walk and when we got to the end of our street an extremely large alsation dog ran of the field and attacked us. The alsation at the time could not see my dog as there is a high bank, it could only see my head and shoulders so in effect attacked me first. It then layed into my dog.
The owner had no control over this dog and even said to me 'it's a rescue dog and I never know how it is going to react but any way it doesn't bite.' The dog did indeed bite my dog.
My question is this:
Is a dog owner liable for the behaviour of its dog and should dogs be under control at all times?

He is 18 months old, and we think he is a cross between a staffy, border collie and a boxer (we got him from a rescue home 10 months ago). He is fairly well behaved most of the time, we took him to dog training when we first got him, he very soft and loving. He knows he has been naughty when we come in and take the the things off him and tell him off but he continues to do it, although this behaviour is about once a week/fornight. We leave him at home in the day (not ideal I know) with plenty of toys and chews, however he prefers to eat out of bound items. Can anyone recommend behavioural training tips, books etc. I have read that wheatgerm is supposed to help, so will be trying this out also. Thanks

I was mortified. the breeder was a dirty beggar though. how have I gone 2 weeks without noticing it as she has only flecked on the odd occasion. she has also had a bath. she had a couple of scabs on her head when I got her but I was informed it was where she was playing with the others. I now know different. please tell me whats the best thing to get in case I havent got them all out. I know now I shouldnt of got her from breeder but I couldnt of left her there.

Please read my other question, posted a few hurs ago to know the situation!!

I have considered many breeds and the only ones I feel I would really like are: German Shepherd, Collie, Border Collie, Golden Retriever, Rottweiler, Weimaraner, Alaskan Malamute or a Great Pyrenean.

I already have a Dalmatian, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (I wish they would make the name a bit shorter!) and an Afghan Hound.

Which would be the best breed for me? Please read my other question to know more about my lifestyle and my wants (and my other dogs) to get a jist of what breed I want.

I would appreciate any breed suggestions and any people who agree with the breeds I am currently considering.

Yes, I have researched the breeds thoroughly and know a lot about them.

Thanks,

-Lilly.

Why are my cats nice to each other when I am not around or they think I am not watching?

But when you are around them they try to ignore each other?

Tonight at 2am is the first time I've seen my older cat lick and clean the younger one. (not her offspring)

Kids are the complete opposite it seems. They act like they DO get along when you are around and when you leave the room they kick their sibling.

What gives?

After approx. 5 weeks she refused food, was very uncomfortable when lying down to sleep, so tried to sleep standing in the corner or her box, she developed a very husky croak, and her breathing was difficult. We took her to the vet who gave her an antibiotic and vitamin injection. Unfortunately she died during the night. Does anyone have any ideas of what the cause could have been. She did not have any discharge coming from her eyes or nose. Any advice/comments would be very much appreciated.

How do you start taking care of it?

This one is a tonkinese, persian mix, kitten. About 2-3 months old, maybe. Really weak, vet opens Monday, which is tomorrow. It's been sneezing, poor thing, and has a runny nose. Slept all day today. Should it be starting eating already? Haven't seen it pee or poop; is this a problem. Had it for two days.

...just checked a website; probably has conjunctivitis. Can't bring to vet - how can we treat it at home,or at least delay effects?
