Why are my cats nice to each other when I am not around or they think I am not watching?

But when you are around them they try to ignore each other?

Tonight at 2am is the first time I've seen my older cat lick and clean the younger one. (not her offspring)

Kids are the complete opposite it seems. They act like they DO get along when you are around and when you leave the room they kick their sibling.

What gives?

They're probbaly trying to confuse you... sneeky devils... trick you into thinking they dont' like each other so they need to you pay extra attention to them or they'll be unloved...

ASK THEM CATS DO WHAT THEY DO YOU DON'T TRAIN THEM THEY TRAIN YOU THEY HAVE A REASON I'M SURE CATS ARE INDEPENDENT AND ABLE TO CARE FOR THEMSELVES VERY WELL THE REASON THEY STAY WITH A PERSON IS BECAUSE THEY LOVE THEM OR IF NOT LOVE THEN THEY JUST HAVEN'T FOUND ANYONE THEY LIKE BETTER YET QUITE POSSIBLY THEY FEEL THAT THEY GET MORE ATTENTION FROM YOU IF THEY DON'T SEEM LIKE THEY ARE GETTING IT FROM EACH OTHER

No one can claim to understand the mind of a cat. It could be they are more focused on you when you are present.

They want to focus their attention on you when you are around I suppose.
