have owned a lot of spaniels and welsh springers mainly , beautiful animals and very intelligent . To understand them you need to think of them as hyper children until they reach the age of two and a half , then they settle down a bit . These dogs need exercise every day and not just a quick walk , you have to tire the little buggers out ! Bitches often quieten down after their first set of pups or being spade and castration mostly calms down dogs but dont think Im condoning these methods simply to calm down any animal ! Enjoy your dogs to the full and they will reward for life , we had one that reached the age of 20 and they are also very good around children and other animals if trained well. Hope that helps

Most Springer Spaniels have tremendous energy and enthusiasm.

They need a lot of exercise - both mental and physical. Coming up with new games which include lots of nosework - searching for hidden articles or following scents will keep them happy.

If you see Springers being used by Customs & Police as sniffer dogs you get some idea of what lively dogs they are.

that's why they're called springers. lol. they're lovely dogs, but boy oh boy are they full of energy! i remember from when i was a vet tech, we used to walk the springers a lot longer than the other dogs.
