We had two guinea pigs, one male and one female. The male we purchased from a pet shop just over 2 1/2 years ago. He was special to us. The female, was older, we got her free from a friend about a year ago. She was quite a bit older when we got her. However, they got along famously and cared for each other a great deal. She died last week, we are fairly certain of old age. However, in the week that followed, our male starved himself to the point that he died yesterday. We tried everything to get him to eat, but he wouldn't at all. Did he die of a broken heart? I know myself and my kids are heartbroken now and we debate if we should get more guinea pigs. Is this common? Could I have prevented it?

my dog will sit and scratch her ears and then they get real red in side and plus she has a name tag on her collar so when she scratches her ears her collar makes a loud and jingly noise!

My dog has been eating cat food for a few years now. I want to get him to eat dog food so he can get the nutrition he needs. My question is: what kind of dog food should I feed him. Also, how should I go about getting him to stop eating cat food? ( We have 4 cats and always have food sitting out for them, should I put up their bowls higher?)

*My dog is a mini dachshund.

I have this kitten that i need to get rid of but i don't have a heart to just take her and just drop her off or put her out somewhere. I would like for someone to take her and give her a very good loving home but seem to have no good luck here. I don't wanna have her put to sleep she is just 7 1/2 months now so my Question is what should i do or do any of you ppl have any suggestions for this problem that i have incountered.

Ok its been 2 weeks and my chihuahua is still attacking and biting my boxer how do i stop this madness?..... the Chihuahua is 5 year old female and my boxer is a 1 year old female non aggessive towards other dogs, although very playful a alittle aggervating

I have two kittens, let's call them Little and Big. Both have been pronounced "slightly chubby" by the vet. I've put them on a twice-a-day feeding schedule and have been giving them less food, per the vet's recommendation. They eat Science Diet Kitten dry and Wellness Kitten wet. My problem is that Little always eats more food and in fact eats Big's food. This morning, for example, I put out two cans of Wellness wet in separate dishes. Big, who eats less in a setting, ate 1/3 and went away. Little proceeded to eat her entire bowl and then cleaned off Big's portion. I'm not sure how I can get them each to eat the appropriate amount of food, even if I separate their food stations and leave food out for a set amount of time. I'm worried that if I clear the bowls after a certain amount of time, Big won't end up eating enough. Help!
