get the medication from a vet because asprin could cause more problems, like liver problems or something.

A quick search on Dog and Aspirin will reveal many veterinarian sites that can provide the basics. Some say no more often then twice a week.
Most veterinarians recommend between 5 mg and 10 mg per pound of the dog's weight every 12 hours. Going on the safe side, a recommended dosage of aspirin of about 5 mg/lb seems to work well for most dogs.

My dog is a Lab, 12 yrs old, 69 lbs, severe arthritic damage to right hind knee.
As long as I give him 1 coated aspirin a day with his food, he stays mostly pain free. When he plays like an idiot and overdoes it, he also requires 3 ml of Metacam (from vet).
My best friend has a 90 lb Rottie in the same condition. She gives him 2 asprin a day.
Also, your dog will benefit greatly from a supplement of Glucosimine. Awesome stuff! Check with your vet.
Good luck!

No aspirin according to my Vet! You will need to talk to the Vet about what your dog can take. This is based on more than just weight. I hope she gets to feeling better. If you have a 24 hour animal hospital, call the Vet there and ask what you can do tonight. Best of luck to you!
