Why listen to people who don't know what they are talking about?

Preservatives used are dangerous. The skin portion of the turkey is too high in fat and can cause pancreatitis. For Processed turkey snadwich meats, the salt content is very high and is dangerous to dogs. A little turkey breast is good for them.

I have a 4 month old Bichonpoo my vet said for her first Thanksgiving she could have white meat turkey. I had to just be careful not to give her any skin, fat or bones.

maybe you only read 1 report... and if its on the internet, dont go believing everything you read, just one persons comments..
Meat is meat.. Dogs are carnivores and in the wild, will eat just about anything that wont eat them first.. Turkeys included.. Its not poisonous meat..

The bottom line is that as long as the dog doesn't get too much fat (skin, etc.) - which could cause pancreatitis - turkey is NOT harmful to dogs in moderation (they may however not be used to it and could cause gastric problems).

It is not bad, however during the holidays the dog can tend to get too much by several family members and too much of anything can be harmful. Bloat, pancreatitis, foreign body obstructions can all be holiday (or anyday) nightmares for emergency visits to the Pet ER!

My dogd always got some turkey for Thanksgiving, and they had no problem with it. If your dog gets sick, it's probably not the meat, but rather THE SPICES you used when cooking it.

I almost had a full fledged fight between two grown men over that on Thanksgiving. One said it could kill a dog, one said thats bulls.... Something about a chemical in it. Maybe thats why we get sleepy.

You can run right down to your local feed store and buy "Turkey and Rice" commercial dog food.
