You can probably find chain link fencing at a local feedstore. Or check in the Yellow pages for fencing.
All dogs should be indoor dogs, only going outdoors for play/exercise and bathroom needs.
My favorite type of dog, is the mixed breed. But when it comes to purebreds, Labradors (10-15 yr lifespan) are wonderful & gentle dogs, but their tails can hurt small children, when wagging. Very strong tails.
Golden Retrievers (12-15 yr lifespan) are good, too.
All dogs eat dog food, preferably a good quality, such as Blue Buffalo, Innova, etc.
Do NOT feed Ol' Roy, as it has caused health problems.

You can probably get a 48 inch chain link fence at Lowe's or Home Depot. My favorite type of dog is the dog I recently got, a Bichonpoo. She is now 4 months old. I paid $650 for her, her name is Esperanza. She came with all her first year exams, all her puppy shots, a lifetime health guarantee. She was microchipped. She is an indoor dog weighing 5 lbs presently she will be about 10 lbs when full grown. She can live as long as 18 or 19 years (small dogs live a long time). She was eating Eukanuba but didn't like it the vet gave me Pro Plan for her and she loves it. She is good with everyone, little children, big children, young people, old people handicapped people, regular people ANYONE and she loves all other animals. She is very friendly, very smart and easily trainable. She is an all around GREAT DOG. I have NEVER owned a better dog.

I love Labradors. I haven't gotten mine yet but I plan on paying $1400-2500 for her. She will be an inside dog but obviously will play outside. No dog should be an outside dog (NO DOG EVER).
They live up to 14 years although 10 with regular crappy dog food. I will feed raw mixed with some Chicken Soup dog food. Maybe Royal Canin. Labs are great with kids but I don't think that a dog should be forced to deal with little brats running around and later cruel kids beating on and hurting her. Children aren't good with dogs although dogs may be good with kids. Go to Lowes for your fencing.

My fave breed of dog is an English Bulldog. The temperament depends mostly on how it is treated. It is all ways best to let the dog be an indoor dog. Dogs are unhappy being chained up outside all the time.
