The thing is that it got into it but we dont know if it ate it. The instructions say that it would have blue dye over it's face which it doesnt have. The pest man put it in the garage and we didnt even know where it was but the dog found it.

Its been about 10 hours and the dog seems to be fine. so far.

First thing that you must do, is find out what the chemical product name of the rat poison is. There are three basic types. The first type, which is the most common, can be treated with vitamin K. This vitamin helps keep the animal from bleeding out internally. However, if you are dealing with a commercial level rat poison, (the type professionals use) you may not be able to do anything.

To find out more information about the chemical poison you are dealing with, you can check it out by looking up its MSDS (this is the label information for the chemical) Most states department of agriculture will have a listing for these in their bureau of entomology and pest control.

If you can't find the information there, e-mail me. I will look within my information. I own a pest control company and I can help you, but I need to know what chemical it may have eaten.

Yes, Vitamin K.
Even if the vet gives him a shot of vitamin K, I would feed him foods rich in vitamin K. I belong to an on line animal group and one of the dogs actually ate rat poision, the vet did not give much hope, the dog bloated up like a football, but the owner did not give up, she continually feed him all the vit K foodshe could find and nursed him back to health. Good Luck

The problem with rodent poison is that it is made with grains to attract rodents and dogs eat foods with grains so it is an attractant to them as well. I have had my dogs get into the poison and the vet had me administer a few CC's of Hydrogen Peroxide via a syringe into their mouth. This made the dog vomit their stomach contents. If I was unsure if they ate it.... they still suggested the peroxide. It was safer to have the dog vomit then let the poison do its thing. Good luck!

Call another Vet!!! This IS an emergency!!! Most rat poisons work by causing bleeding internally...you may never see symptoms until death occurs!!! They need medications to help the body kick out the reserve blood supply!!

The antidote to usual rat poisons is vitamin K, which has no side effects. When we were suspicious that our cat had eaten some, we took him to the vet and asked that he give him a vitamin K shot just in case. That is what I suggest you should do.

It shouldn't take that lengthy to get the diet ok that they favor to assist your dogs. that's something all vets must have handy in any respect circumstances. in case you comprehend they ate rat poison, you want to take them to an emergency vet, or they are going to die. the most elementary and actual identifiable signal of rodent poison ingestion in dogs is uncontrollable bleeding. they might initiate to bleed from the mouth and nostril. they might initiate to cough up blood. bypass to an emergency vet!
