Your other responders have got it totally right! All animals (including US!) have idiosyncrasies, and cats have some of the most interesting. Most cats love watching the water swirl, and ALL of my cats have drunk from the bowl (can't get them to stop it, either). Had a cat that loved to play with the water coming out of the garden hose, drink from it, bat it, etc. I give my cats baths, and they generally love it (especially getting rubbed down afterwards with towels).
Cats are funny people.

Cats are extremely active so they like to see things move around. It's possible for a cat to like water. There was a rescue on the news that a cat saved a life for a person. So, it's pretty normal for a cat to watch the toilet flush.

I have two and both love to come with me to the potty and talk while I am using it. if I refuse them the privilege I get a mess on the floor and screams for a couple of hours.
My little one ( 1.7 years) is particularly interested in any kind of noise. she will sit ( after I flush ) and watch the water go down, then when I am taking a bath is keen to watch and wait patiently for me to pretend that there is a fish in the water that she needs to catch.
She has even fallen in and that doesn't detour her.
My oldest ( 3.5) has started mimicking her too. They are just entirely too entertaining for words!!! I love them , and you should just enjoy the curiosity. Cats by nature are very nosey, that is why they are always getting into things that they shouldn't.
but they are so cute and deserve the very best from humans!!!

I have a kitten that loves watching the water drip down from the bathtub faucet after someone takes a shower. He also will sit on the ledge of the tub and stare at the water coming down while someone's taking a shower. He's been brought into the shower before and he hasn't had a problem. But he hates when I squirt water at him when he's somewhere he shouldn't be.
So it really depends on the cat. Just think of it like this....why do cats like pieces of string or balls with bells in them? Cause they're entertaining and the cats are curious about everything around them. =)

For some reason my cat liked to watch the toilet flush. At times she would put her paw in it while it was swirling down. She would also drink from it and lick the bar soap on the tub. And she would not go wild when i would give her a bath.

I have a cat that does the same thing. I always refer to her as my 'lifeguard' when I'm showering, as she sits outside and just waits for me to finish, sometimes licking at the water that pools at the top of the tub or sticking her paw in to play. And she loves the toilet, fascinated with the way the water flows downwards. Some cats just don't mind water, regardless of the theory that cats don't like it. Heck, my parents have a cat that jumps in the pond to try and get fish. He hasn't succeeded yet, but it's always good for a few laughs...

One of my cats loves to watch the toilet flush! I have to shut the door so she won't jump on the rims of the bowl when I pee!
It's normal! Cat's are weird like that! But, if she gets one drop on her...she runs like hell! I did have a friend who had a cat that would sit in their dish water, and another who's cat would get into the shower with her!

All 7 of my cats do this. We never taught them to like water or watch the toilet flush, it is just interesting to them. I think they like the motion of the water in the toilet. As far as the bath thing goes, I think they just want to see what you are up to. I find it funny!
