I have a four year old neutered tom cat who lives indoors. He's one of those big black and white tuxedo cats - very strong, very active, with very little fat hanging down in the "apron" under his stomach. He is very happy and healthy, and looks big but not overweight. The trouble is, he is 19lbs! I keep seeing fat cats in the newspapers who weighed only a few pounds more. I've got him on a diet of wet, high protein food only (although he loves dry food, especially Iams). Is he in trouble at this weight?

Shes out all day and in at night. Before if she needed out she would jump on me and move about me until I woke up. I know shes not doing this now, I'm a light sleeper. I dont want to put her out at night as its freezing and cant bear the though of a litter tray all over again. Any ideas? Could she be sick?

2. How do you keep, feed, and breed flowerhorns? Is it okay for one to have tankmates?
3. What's the average life span and adult size of flowerhorns?

and received some very sensitive and constructive advice, but I am now at my wits end. We have had our dog Lassie since she was 4 weeks old and she is now nearly 17 yrs old. For the past few months she has begun to mess in the house and is constantly wanting to go outside during the day and night. She has no infection and is, other than a bit arthritic, generally healthy. My children have now left home and I am left 'holding the dog'. I am not being flippant, but I have virtually become a prisoner in my own home. I have even been sleeping downstairs all these months just to let her out and this can be up to 10 times during the night and more so during the day. I do take her out, but it has got to the stage where, even after a walk, she will still come in and mess. I know she is old and I love her dearly as do all the family, but they are all out and about and working and getting on with their lives. I sleep, on average, about 2hrs in 24 and my health and sanity is beginning to waiver.

Yesterday we got two six-month old cats, Rodney and Jasmine. Both from different litters but get on very well together. They were fine last night but have started fighting today. Does anyone know why and if/when it'll stop??

Her dog ended up being put to sleep due to the poisoning. Our family is just so upset. Our daughter had her dog trained to do several tricks and was her very best friend. Is there anything legally we can do to this family or this kid?

Hi

I have a 1 year old cat who is quite nosy! I love christmas so am already thinking about buying our tree ready for the 1st December. Should I buy real or artificial with a young cat? What is the safest?

I have a sweet little cat (female) who moved in with us after years in a shelter, and she is really settling in. However, whereas she used to love going out to roam around the garden, lately she doesn't want to go out, and snarls at us if we try to 'help' her out, and even if we touch her when she's standing by the terrace doors. Last night I think I found the answer. A huge male cat sat right outside the door serenading in a rather unpleasant manner. He's been marking his territory all over our garden, and I think he's scaring my cat! Last week my cat actually pissed by the door too - something she NEVER does. I don't know what to do - I'd love to be able to let my cat out - and atleast make her feel that her garden is her territory....(atleast inside the house....)

Hi again,
New to all this so not sure if I can post a reply to my own question.
It is dog treat salami that I give her not human stuff from the supermarket - is this ok?
She never ate canned or dried food so I give her cooked chicken, slices of roast beef, turkey etc.
The tea is a comfort thing I think. When we sit at night that is her time for affection and attention and a drop of tea.
Strange I know.
J.

My much loved Cat passed away six weeks ago very unexpectedly and whilst he was still quite young (10). I have found it very difficult to cope with. I am relatively normal (in so far that any of us is!) and have found my very deep grief and reaction surprising and a little worrying. Can anyone offer advice?

Hi there, I have quite a small fish tank, had it for about a year. About a week ago the filter started making a strange noise, like the noise it would usually make (humming) but much louder. I've cleaned it but doesn't seem to help. I'm not sure if there is a proper way of cleaning that I'm not doing or if it could be something else. Please help, I'm not getting any sleep!

My Border Collie female has just had a litter of 6 healthy and gorgeous puppies. The is nothing (health wise) wrong with them but one has a very unusual aspect. She was born with a stumpy tail. Rather than full length tail it stops about 2 cm from her butt and doesn't have a typical white tip on it. Is this unusual??
