Hi again,
New to all this so not sure if I can post a reply to my own question.
It is dog treat salami that I give her not human stuff from the supermarket - is this ok?
She never ate canned or dried food so I give her cooked chicken, slices of roast beef, turkey etc.
The tea is a comfort thing I think. When we sit at night that is her time for affection and attention and a drop of tea.
Strange I know.
J.

Oh, I am sorry, I misunderstood.. However, the dog treat salami is still unhealthy if it is replacing a balanced meal.. those treats often have sugar or fructose in them too..so read the label to make certain it doesn't have sweeteners and lots of chemicals..
she may do just fine on the meats you feed, but it isn't very balanced, so perhaps she would at least relent to eat doggy vitamins?
the kibble would be so much better for her teeth, but perhaps she can have extra biscuits or crunchy treats...Dental health becomes a major problem with dogs who have always eaten a soft diet..
No, it isn't odd to share a spot of tea.. I used to share my tea and muffin with my old gal every morning..then I learned that it was hard on her heart, so I switched to broth for her..

I assumed it was a dog treat too by your post..but you should be feeding a kibble too, it's good for the teeth and not as fatty as a lot of meat. I do feed chicken but I feed a leg/thigh combo over kibble between 8 dogs, so everyone gets a few bites of chicken and that's it. I also have natural chews and all my dogs have great teeth. I don't feel good about the tea but a tiny bit of milk is prob better, ask your vet though, maybe the tea is ok....

As long as it's doggy stuff, it's fine.
I suggest that you start her on canned dog food, though. People food won't have all of the nutrients that she needs. There's a variety of brands and flavors for her and she shouldn't have too much of a problem adjusting to it.
Dry food will be cheaper and you can always add water or a little milk, (not much milk, it can upset their bellies), to soften it for her if she doesn't like it crunchy.
If you're gonna give her turkey and the such, then be sure to offer her some veggies too. Those small cans you get from the store are fine and she should love them. Hubby's beagles do and it'll provide her a few more vitamins that she needs.
Or you can always talk to your vet and see what he says is best, but people food is not advised for pets, they don't get all the vitamins that they need.

you are going the right way to kill your dog!
The high protein meat only diet will damage her kidneys. Dogs are not obligate carnivores. They NEED vegetable matter. YOU have made her a picky eater by offering her other foods. You need to take charge, feed her a good proper dog food, either tinned, plus small bite mixer, and cut out all the meat.
If you don't give her biscuit she will get rotton teeth, gum disease, sluggish bowels and possible blocked anal glands.
I have just taken in a super picky 8 year old yorkie who had been an old lady's pampered darling, fed much as you are feeding yours. She came with stinking breath, rotton teeth and kidney problems. She refused to eat kibble. That was 3 weeks ago. Now she eats kibble, her teeth have been sorted out, her coat is looking better and her kidneys are no longer under severe strain. I started by feeding her tinned food, plus soaked small bite mixer for a week, then tinned plus unsoaked mixer for a week, then added small bite kibble . If your dog is over 5 years of age, you MUST reduce the protein levels in her diet. That's why you can buy 'senior' diets. High protein diets kill dogs years before they need to die, and kidney failure is a very unpleasant way to die.

I used to feed our dog steak and mince for his tea but the vet told me off for giving him to much red meat as it contains to much protein and was making him a little bit over weight, so I changed it and fed him fish with his biscuits and yet again I got in trouble for that to, I thought I was doing the best all that omega 3 for his joints and coat. I was told dog food only for dogs theres to much salt etc in human food, the vet will probably moan about giving them tea too to much caffeine or something, cant do right for doing wrong. I still give my dog a drink milk occasionally he loves it, but apart from that his no junk or human food not even left overs from tea, I feel guilty not giving anything but its for his good in the long run.

giving your yorkie doggie treats every now and again isnn't so bad. however i would strongly advise against giving her tea due to the caffeine in it. your vet would more than likely advise you the same.

Feeding a 'number 2' to any animal is disgusting and cruel. You don't deserve to own a dog.

sounds normal, most dogs will eat some human food and it wont do them any harm.
