Good gosh! I don't know what the heck is going on?! They are invading BOTH of my dogs on the tips of their ears and are eating to the point of bleeding (and to make things worse, there weren't even wounds on the ears to begin with!). I put septi-cleanse to keep them away and to prevent from making the wounds worse but the flies still hover and are driving my pups crazy. Whats up with this?

I am traveling about 12 hrs by car and would like to take my kitten. I don't have a cat carrier and am wondering if it's neccesary. What do you do with the litter box? What is the best way to avoid messes? Any advice will be extremely helpful. THANKS!

Today, the dog that I grew up with was put to sleep. I didn't realize how much it would hurt until I got home. I miss her so much already, and I can stop thinking about her just laying dead at the vet. I feel terrible. What can I do to feel better?

I am a college student, I want a small dog, and I really think these are adorable...but I heard they are very high maintenance and
have health issues.
Or if you have any other suggestions let me know!

stray cats have invaded my backyard. i do not feed them, so i don't know why they chose my yard and not my neighbor's. i can't even go into my own backyard, they hiss and screech at me like i'm invading their home.

animal control said they could do nothing. a local pest control company came and put down traps (little cages with trick-doors) which did not work and cost me $70 for the cages $30 for the wasteful visit.

i don't want to harm them, like using rat poison or anti-freeze mixed with a can of tuna fish (a suggestion from a friend). i just want them to GO AWAY!

any suggestions??

I found what appears to be a baby wren with the bottom piece of his beak broken. How do I feed him? Is there a way to fix it?

I was looking at sugar gliders on the internet for a friend and discovered that in the US you can own one. I live in Australia and I have never heard of being able to keep them as pets as in here we are only allowed to care for injured gliders if you have a permit.

Sugar Gliders are so cute. I have seen them at Tinaroo and Milla Milla Falls. Also at the animal park. I would love to have one!

Are they hard to care for? Anything that you can tell me can be great.

So, I have a maltese with a mowhawk right now. It's wasn't intentional, I swear. Our groomer comes every 3 weeks. It's a little pattern. She does our Yorkie, 3 weeks later she does our Maltese, 3 weeks after that she does the Yorkie's hair again. We keep their haircuts short. So, really, They both get groomed every 6 weeks. My Maltese doesn't get groomed for another 2 weeks. The way her fur is growing on the top of her head, it looks like she has a little mowhawk. I want to dye it hot pink temporarily, but I don't want to use people products. I don't know how that will work, or what it might do to her. Anyone know of a product out there?

-Pet friendly
-Temporary
-Pink

P.S. If you think this is freaky, know that I'm 16. Ha, it makes more sense now, doesn't it?

My little girl's going for her op in the morning and I'm very anxious about it, I'm glad she has no idea! I understand that the op removes the ovaries and uterus but I'm not sure about what sort of aftercare she'll need.

Will she need painkillers? How do I stop her playing with her older sister and busting her stitches? Will I need to clean her incision area? How long until she feels better? What can I do to take my mind of it? How will this affect my older cat? What can I expect in general?

I know that the vets will advise me tomorrow but I just can't wait 'til then, I'd appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

Can not people see that now it is pit bulls next it well be some other large breed of dog. When there is no more pit bulls people will turn on a different breed. The bad guys will use other dogs to fight and gruad thier drugs. Here is a little know fact. In St Paul Minnesota there were about 13,000 dog bites a year. Most dogs were "family breeds" like cocker spanils, collies and the like. Last year that figuare droped more than in half with the number of pit bulls making up about half of the pet dog population. If pits are so bad why did the number of dog bites go down when the pit population went up. We who fight BLS are fight not just for our dogs but for everyone who owns a breed that will become a target in the future

I have just got a new boxer puppy thats lovely.

The only problem is she wont stop biting. She is 10 weeks old and when she gets excited she starts biting people. I have a younger brother and he sometimes gets really scared when she does it as she is really strong and its hard to get her to stop.

Has anyone get any ideas on how we can get her to stop

...if you had to pass an intelligence test to be entrusted w/a dog?

First question=Can you SPELL the breed name correctly?
#2=Do you KNOW the BREED STANDARD?? *ANY* of it?
#3= Can you say HOUSEBREAK instead of "go poddy(*D*???) or "go to the bathroom"??
#4=Do you know what a CRATE is ??? Can you USE one?
#5=Do you understand that REAL dog are NOT "disney-cartoons"???
#6=Do you understand that any dog will get FAT if you OVER-FEED it???
#7=do you have enough BRAIN-CELLS to NAME the thing BY YOURSELF???
Please, feel free to add more questions!

Just imagine how many animals would live much better/healthier/LONGER lives if people had to *PASS* these simple/BASIC knowlege questions.

I have a 2 yr old german shepherd and she becomes anxious in unfamiliar situations. She is about 63 lbs and i got an x-tra large carrier within american airlines restrictions. Her vet prescribed acepromazine, a 25 mg sedative for the flight. I'm flying roundtrip from st. louis to LA which is about 4-5 hours nonstop. My concerns are her health and how it will affect her overall. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
