Dogs arent meant to wear clothes. If he doesn't want to wear them and he doesn't need them, then skip the dress-up. The dog is not a barbie or a mr potato head or a stuffed animal. If it's a small dog or a dog that gets cold easily, then a simple jacket or sweater should be relatively easy to get your dog used to with regular positive reinforcement. : )

Go slow. First teach your pup "no bite" then try putting it's paws in the clothes first and it's head last. This is what I did with my Bichonpoo. She has a sweater with the front legs and it goes over her head. Once she learned "no bite" the rest was a piece of cake. I put her paws in first and her head in last as she seems to get frightened when the sweater goes over her head. Now she looks forward to wearing her sweater or coat because she associates it with going places. Be patient. As your pup gets older it will get easier.

Wow, what a cranky bunch! Your dog should not be treated like a doll and should be allowed to be a dog, but you should also definitely be the alpha in the relationship. If you want to do something to your dog that you want and that doesn't harm it, your dog should definitely be trained to let you do that. Think about when you need to look at its teeth or into its ears or take it to the vet! Look up websites or other posts on answers on training puppies not to bite. Then your puppy can look cute in its little outfits, and your vet will thank you! Good luck.

The Dog whisperer would probably tell you to break it down into small tasks. And actually, you are teaching your puppy two separate things: not to bite is one, to wear clothes is the second.

If puppies were meant to be dressed in clothes, they would have come with a wardrobe. Leave the puppy be with his "fur" coat.

If your dog doesn't want to be dressed up like one of those god-awful celeb dogs, don't do it. You're stressing out the poor thing, and if you persist in messing them around then they'll completely lose their trust in you. Just accept that your dog is a dog, not a doll for dressing up.

Sounds to me he don't like wearing them so i would stop trying 2 put them on him.
My dogs have coats, doggy fleeces n jumpers that they wear in the winter if its really cold but they like wearing them, as soon as i pick them up they come to me n sit and wait for me to put them on them i would NEVER put them on them if they wasn't happy about it

This puppy is not a THING. It is not your possession, it is in your care. Clothes are not natural to dogs, and except for something warm, like a doggie coat, to go for walks, it does not need clothes. Get a Barbie.

Don't! This is a dog, not a doll or tiny human. This is not good for the animal . . . and the puppy definitely doesn't want to put it on! instead, work on commands the young dog can understand - like coming when you call their name and sitting when told.
