#8 Do you know that 'purebred & registered' do NOT equate breeding quality???

#9 Do you know what genetic health problems are in your breed & that your dog should have the proper clearances before thinking of breeding???

#10 Do you know that mixing 2 breeds will not start a new breed even if you come up with a 'cutsey' name (i.e. 'puggle', 'labradoodle') and makes you a low-life scam artist backyard breeder???

#11 Do you that dogs were never meant to be a purse accessory, that they are a living, breathing (eating, drooling, urinating, defecating) thing, not a toy to be bought & disposed of on a whim when they go out of fashion???

#12 Do you know that anyone that purposely tries to breed & advertises "TEACUP/T-CUP" anything is an unscrupulous creep peddling unhealthy short-lived dogs for the gullible public???

There! That feels better.

........do people know why CULLING, CASTRATION, SPAY and NEUTER come into play?
SO ANIMALS CANNOT REPRODUCE THEIR POOR GENETIC QUALITY. Only the best specimens are used for breeding the rest are eliminated from the group, pack ,herd..... This is what is done on ANY REPUTABLE livestock farm to strengthen the stock. The stock whether it be horses, cattle, sheep, dogs, etc. have to meet to its genetic standard of quality to measure up to its purpose. With genetic standards there is no room for the weak, sickly, the sub standard to serve its purpose. The animal's purpose has to be considered.
Have you ever seen a MINI Thorobred horse or a TEACUP Brahma bull or a POCKET Suffolk?
Dogs have PURPOSES people just don't research them.

Just imagine how many animals would be put down due to lack of proper housing.

I understand where you're coming from. I feel the same way. But I never claim to be an expert on anything. I've given answers that people have disagreed with. I've asked questions that people thought were dumb. No one is perfect and when we stop learning we stop living.

I agree with you though that people need to learn about how to care for an animal prior to getting it.

Yahoo Answers is a community. Communities are filled with all kinds...Gitemgang, you have a lot of intelligence, that's easy to see, but maybe throw a little kindness out to the world once in a while. I hope you don't talk to your neighbors the way you talk to us here.

Did you know that every breed of dog is not suitable for all people?
Did you know that if you research the dog you are planning to get or dogs in general that you would not have to ask stupid questions on Yahoo answers?

Do you realize that not every dog with "papers" should be bred?
Can you do simple research on the Internet to find answers to common problems?
If your dog suddenly became extremely ill, what is the first thing you would do? A) Call your dog's veterinarian (or emergency vet if regular vet is closed) -OR- B) Get on Yahoo Answers.

Yes, I think getting a dog should be like getting a drivers license. You must be of a certain age.. You should only be able to do it at first with and experienced licensed individual. You must pass all eligibility requirements and then you have to pass the test alone w/o anyone Else's help. Then you have restrictions until you are of a proper age. WOULDN'T IT BE WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww cmon Gitem, you know what would happen!

The juicy little contract to test everyone would be certainly given to HSUS, after all our government seems to think they are an authority on animal care. And once it was hijacked by them can you imagine the questions?

1. Will your dog be an inside dog only?
NO??? Sorry you do not qualify to be a dog guardian.
2. Have you ever had a litter of puppies?
YES??? Sorry you do not qualify to be a dog guardian
3. Will this dog be fixed?
NO??? Sorry you don not qualify to be a dog guardian
4. Do you believe in Purely Positive training techniques?
NO??? Sorry...
5. Do you have a couple thousand in savings for
possible emergency care?
NO??? Sorry...
6. Do you believe in vaccinating?
You don't vaccinate for Lepto and Bordatella? Sorry...
7. Will your dog ever be tethered?
YES??? Sorry...
8. Have you ever hunted with a dog?
YES??? Sorry...
9. Would you ever put your dog in a cage?
YES??? Sorry...
10. would you ever crop/dock/remove dewclaws?
YES??? Sorry...
11. Have you ever entered a dog show?
YES??? Sorry...

Etc etc etc...

I just wish we could keep stupid people from reproducing themselves! "One generation and out" (with thanks to Pacelle from HSUS for the quote)! LOL!

Not everyone is smart, if we were then this would be a perfect world but its not. Some people get dogs for companionship, some do it to save the animal. So how would that look if we start turning people away that lend out a helping hand just cause they are dumb. I mean come on. Everyone has a little bit of dumb in them, some people say dumb things, some ask dumb things, some make dumb choices.

Do you want your dog to be a companion, or is he just to be a lawn ornament?
Do you realize that a puppy is not a toy to be put on the shelf when you're not playing with it?

I'm sure I'll think of more.....

Maybe if people did'nt have to ask others what KIND of dog they should get they would'nt have to ask questions such as the ones you've all brought up.
