wow... good question

I'm sure there's something that has been recorded but I have a friend who had black angel fish (freshwater) and she had it for almost 15 years.

I had Blue Zebra (African Cichlid) for almost 8 years once.

Koi fish can live up to 100 years in right condition (big fish tank or big fish pond) with lots of circulation

i've heard some fish can live longer than that...

On fish forum some people have goldfish that they had for almost 20 years (in 100 gallon tank or more)....

and most cheap fish (neons, tetras, guppies, etc) will live about 5 years.

The Pygmy Goby in a good life might pass 2 months. A Goldfish can live 30 years or more. The Oldest fish was a Koi that lived to over 200 Years (estimated at about 225 but impossible to pinpoint exactly).

Depends on the type of fish and the type of care they receive (as well as luck). Certain goldfish and koi (among others like sturgeons, etc) can live for decades.

I expect the fish I have (puffers & african cichlids) to live 8 years or more.

It's kind of a shame when a fish that has a life span of 10 years or more dies in a only couple of months in the wrong hands.
