Good gosh! I don't know what the heck is going on?! They are invading BOTH of my dogs on the tips of their ears and are eating to the point of bleeding (and to make things worse, there weren't even wounds on the ears to begin with!). I put septi-cleanse to keep them away and to prevent from making the wounds worse but the flies still hover and are driving my pups crazy. Whats up with this?

spray your house or yard and get rid of the flies. (if there aren't any flies, there won't be any biting)

There is a product called Flies-Off.It comes in a spray and an ointment to put on the dog's ears.Look for it at your local pet or farm store. In the meantime,a coating of Vick's Vaporub on the dog's ears will keep the flies off.Hang some fly strips from the trees in your yard, clean up all dog droppings, and remove any uneaten food. It's a good idea to bathe and clip the dog's coats ,or make sure they are free of mats,as a dirty, smelly, matted dog will attract flies, and the flies can lay eggs on the dog's soiled fur. This will lead to maggots on your dog, which can kill the dog.Flies are bad news.

There is a fly spray that you can mist over those areas, butt, ears etc. It's called "Fly Off" available at PetSmart for sure. Also they have a Fly balm, salve that you can put on your dog's ears that are made for that. There is also a container with a strip chemical that goes in the bottom and it is slightly opened at the top and you hang it by the jar top in the area where your dogs are but not where the dogs can get it. It attracts the flys, trapping them. Go into a PetSmart and ask to talk to a stocker or a manager to get directed to the products.
I am sure other stores have this, but I know for sure that PetSmart does.

Can flies eat through skin and flesh? 0.0 Wow. Invest in some fly paper and dangle it by windows and such. Make sure you have a fly screen at your door. Make sure there's nothing sweet or mouldy lying around to attract the flies. If you have a room with no flies in, maybe stick the dogs in there. Invest in some fly killing spray. Keep a close eye on the ears of the dog to make sure they aren't infected or harbouring maggots. Stick socks on the dogs ears?

My dog had the same problem, I dont remember the product i used, it was a few years ago, but it was some sort of insect repellent for dogs...worked wonders! By the way...its not fleas or ear mites, deffinitely flies, I have seen dogs attacked by this with the tips of their ears missing...and i think it happens more often in older dogs as they are less energetic and do not scare the flies off...

First, make sure they have a clean yard to be in. Pick up all the poop with a pooper scooper and dispose of it in a plastic bag. Secondly, get some Flys Off at the pet store and put it on their ears. If push comes to shove, mix Vaseline with Avon Skin So Soft bath oil and put that on their ears. Make sure to keep the ears clean before you treat them. You may have to put in on thick to start and often. That is the only problem with prick earred dogs. (Ears that stand up)
Good luck.

If there is an open sore the flies won't leave it alone although you can put triple antibiotic ointment on it to help it heal (of course clean it up first) then the flies should leave it alone.

i wouldnt spray any poison to kill the flies, because they might hurt the dogs...
