When animals of the same sex try to mount each other, it really has nothing to do with sexual activity. The one animal is trying to assert his/her dominance over the other. I've seen dogs exhibit this behavior, cattle too. I've never seen cats behaving this way, though.

Hi in my opinion I think they can be. I just lost one of my males and the other misses him. They were always at each other and never bothered the girls. I was forever scolding them for being so ornery and I was tired of it. My Pudge is 11 and Meister died at 12 and even a week before he passed he was still going after pudge. I believe they can be.They have done this all their life .I guess the best way to find out is if you want to breed them which I didn't want to do but that would be the way to find out. If another pet was in heat I'm sure you would find out for sure. My girls are spayed so my boys must have known it.

Yes, in fact most animald have bi sexual tendancies as its only us in society that have isssues with it. My cousin has two cats and they are definetly gay! They do all sorts of dodgy things together but we wouldnt have it any other way.. well maybe less in public!!!

I have three male dogs and they mount each other, but it doesn't mean that they are gay, they are just trying to show dominance

i dont' think animals can be gay..
the only other mammals that have sex for fun are dolphins.. so dolphins i can see maybe being gay :)
but yeah otherwise they only mate to reproduce.. and two memebers of the same sex can reproduce naturally
so no its not in animal instinct to be gay
although sometimes they might be confused

And ours certainly acts it when his buddy Romeo is over.
