when i was a kid my cat had kittens in my closet and my mom did not want them there so she made the mom cat a nice bed out of a box and some old blankets and towels then put the kittens in there when they were just a couple of days old and they adjusted just fine, in fact the mother liked the box so much that after the kittens were all grown she still slept in it. hope this helps you.

You can try but if your momma cat is not ready and she is nursing then I think you will find her hiding them somewhere else after you have moved them downstairs. When a human handles the newborn babies; the parent animal will move them again to protect them but she could also decide to totally ignore them and not feed nor clean them and they would then die. So be very careful. If the babies and the momma cat are warm and safe then I would let her make that decision but if they are not warm and safe then I would move them all. just make sure she is caring for all of the babies after you move them or you may need to care for any or all if she has deserted them.

My mother cat has had about 6 litters, and I'm kinda experienced
with kittens. It's safe to take them from the roof, just prepare a place for them to stay before you get them down. I would get the mother first and then get the kittens down and bring them to their mother so they know their safe. If you don't want to do it just call a fireman for help to get them down. (~note~) if the kittens scratch you when your trying to get them down get a towel and wrap it around them, just make sure they have a breathing hole to breath through.

move em down stairs, give them some warm milk and make a nice bed for them, if the mom likes it she'll stay, but board up the route to the upstairs attic or wherever.
