The horse could have had it's head in a batch of poison ivy or poison oak before being petted by your daughter. By kissing or touching faces with the horse, the oil of these plants could have rubbed off on your daughters face.

If the swelling is severe and there is a chance her airways could swell closed, take her to the emergency room. If the swelling is mild, the antihystamines others have suggested should work. I definately recommend that your daughter take a hot shower right away, to wash the allergens off her skin and out of her hair, and that her clothes be put in the wash immediately.

Sounds like an allergic reaction. My daughter did the same when she pet a rabbit. Give her an antihistamine like Benedryl and she should go down in about a couple of hours.

Watch her and make sue she isn't having any difficulty breathing... She should be fine... Just keep an eye on her.

Antihistamnines now & wash the affected area with soap & cool water...take her to an allergist & have her tested for grasses. I love horses & am not allergic to them, but when they slober on me, I get what they have been eating on me, & then I swell up! Timothy grass is my downfall with horses.
Have the kid tested...

Sounds like she is allergic, Either give her an allergy pill or some bendryl, or if it is more serious to the hospital!
