I heard it's bad to buy 2 goldfish and now I see why. My sister bought these things and now I have them since she moved across the country. The one is more than twice the size and when I brought it to my house it started eating the other one, as I have seen it do before. I want to split them up but keep them in the same aquarium. I can't make it out to buy anything in the next couple days so how can I do this? I was thinking of putting a divider in the middle of the aquarium (10 gallon) and holding it there with these castles that are in it. What should I use or is there another way to seperate them?

Could I maybe take this container they were in when I moved them and make holes in it so the bubbles from the wand could get in but the fish couldn't get out? Then I could attach it to wires and hang it in the aquarium? Or would that prevent it from getting enough oxygen?

The divider is a good idea when you can go out and buy a proper one. it needs to have holes in it the the filtered water can pass through freely, but the fish can't. The idea you were describing about using the container sounds like it's okay for a short term fix.. I wouldn't keep the fish in there for more than a few days though
good luck!

1stly the bubbles aren't the important part of the air in the water, the air disolves all over the water when the bubbles hit the water, so you don't have to have the container directly in the bubbles. The divider you mentioned about putting holes in it etc should work fine for a few days but have you realized that a 10 gallon tank is too small for 2 fully grown goldfish? Your fish are probably not adults yet and still have growing to do, this may be why they are eating each other, the general rule on goldfish is 10 per fish. i would suggest getting another or larger tank. good Luck though.

I have three goldfish in a tank, and one is way bigger than one of the others and they are all best buds, I never heard of a goldfish eating another goldfish, but here is what i would do. If you have one, put the smaller fish in another aquarium, if you don't, I have heard from a very trusted site that for a few days put the fish in a plastic bin. Just make sure you have the water at room temperature when you put the fish in.

the dividers are good but make sure it touches the bottom and the top because fish tend to jump over or swim under
