Wild turkeys fly quite well. Domestic turkeys are bred for larger breasts and so aren't able to fly very well.

YES, turkeys can fly,
I live in Oregon and in the back 20 acres they fly in in droves.
I flock came in last spring, stuck around, had 16 chicks and grew up there for the summer then flew away one day in the early fall.
Yes, they can fly,
the wild ones are smaller and fly easier, the larger ones that don't fly so much get fatter and then loose their love of flying and hang out in the woods....soon to be dinner

Scientifically Proven turkeys can fly, you see, when we started breeding turkeys for humans to eat, the breeding process screwed up the turkeys ability to fly, before humans got ahold of them, they could fly. This is all straight from the mouth of a scientist.
Its all in the genetics!

Yes wild Turkeys can fly, but they mostly walk everywhere. When they get spooked or need to go over a fence or something they will fly right over it.

North American wild turkeys DO fly. At dusk they'll fly up to their tree top roosts or if they are on the ground feeding during the day and are startled by something they can't outrun.
Here's a link to a picture of them in flight.

Wild turkeys fly just enough to get then to where they need to be. They are small, so they can lift themselves. Domestic turkeys are bred to eat, so they are really heavy, and pretty big, too. They have smaller wings. That's why you don't usually eat turkey wings.

I don't think domestic turkeys can fly. (At least not more than a few inches off the ground) But wild turkeys can.

Yes--but not far like other birds. They generally do it to defend themselves or to get up in a tree to roost at night.
