My husband and I are trying to buy a house, and the inspector found that the electric is the old knob and tube wiring, plus a lot of splicing. The electric will have to be completely redone before we will be approved for the loan and insurance. Anyone have any guesses at how much it might cost? I know it all depends on the size of the house and all. The house is older, 2 story, three bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, and we are guessing it is around 2000 square feet. Any ideas out there?

My dark shirts always come out of the washer with a layer of lint on them. We hang dry them so they will not shrink up. The washer is about 8 years old. I am thinking I should get a new washer with a lint filter possibly. Thanks for trying to help

We have a floor that makes an awful noise when walked on. The floor is laid with chipboard, nailed onto joists. Is there a standard that needs to be applied when laying floors and constructing joists. We believe that noggins are not present in the construction. We have an NHBC Certificate.

It's a Fujitsu General air conditioner, a bit old. The fan does work properly and the thermostat control knob too, upto the point marked '4'. If i try to move it up for cooler air, the MCB trips. There's apparently no cooling at all. Please advise me what to do.

i'm planning on lofting my bed, but i'm not sure if the materials i have will be strong enough to support it. i have 3/4" plywood sitting in a metal frame. the frame has 4 short legs on it. i have 2.5' 4x4" posts that i plan on supporting the bed with, and have braces to drill into the wall for 3-4 legs (so the bed will be sturdy). the problem i am running ito is where to put the 4x4s. i can either put them A. on the plywood inside of the frame or B. somehow rest them under the short legs on the metal frame. the plywood boards are also broken into 3 sections.

how should i mount the 4x4" posts?

I have a large rose bush in my back yard, it is about 5-6 feet wide and 11-13 feet tall. Yesterday my puppy managed to pull off a rather large branch from near the bottom. The branch is about 10 feet tall, with smaller branching and leaves in the top half, and about 2 inches in diameter. Is there anyway to replant this somewhere else or is it just trash now?
