I have a 1 gallon clear(used to be) container, I have been filling it with iced tea and now it is brown and dingy. Any tips on how to remove these stains ? Vinegar ?

I have that same container & got mine at Wal-Mart in 2001. I use Clorox bleach to soak in the container for about 1-2 hours, using hot water. When the water cools, I pour it out & check the stain. Sometimes, I repeat the process once or twice more before the stain's gone. I then use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to remove the bleach smell.

Glass & stainless steel are better BUT not practical. Glass will break if you clunk it onto the counter or into the sink just right. Glass gets scratched easily. Stainless steel requires too much upkeep, wiping prints off the handle, using Bar Keep to keep it clean.

Stainless steel and glass are so much better for iced tea pitchers--consider getting a new one--tea in a stainless pitcher stays colder and tastes better.

Vinegar would probably work, but bleach is probably your best bet. Follow the instructions on the jug o' clorox--you probably just need a few drops diluted in half the pitcher of water. When you are done washing with bleach, wash it again with the dishwasher or regular dish detergent to make sure you rinsed all the bleach out.

Depending on the size of the container opening, I've had good luck using a mild bleach solution. You have to be able to scrub it out thoroughly afterward though, so make sure you can either reach your hand in there, or have a dishwashing brush up to the task.

That might work. Or you could try baking soda.
