So I'm thinking about getting this appartment downtown and its is great. Love the floor plan, the finishes, the price. One thing bother me though. The wall that my bed would be up against is the common wall between me and the appartment next to me. Now, this normally wouldn't bother me, but the room on the other side of my bed's wall is the bathroom, and to make matters worse its the wall that the other person's toliet is on. So here's my concern, I am afraid that I will be spending all this money a month for a great place, but evey time my neighbor goes to the bathroom, I will not only hear the flushing, but him or her peeing. yuck. I can't really put the bed anywhere else becasue its a loft and this is the little "nook" part of the space where the bed goes. I have never been in an appartment before, always rented a home. What do you guys think, am I being paranoid? Just seems like being that close to another person's toilet is gross.
Thanks

I have a large poinsettia still from Christmas. It's lost the majority of it's leaves but is still hanging in there. Will it die off completely, or can I keep it for next year? If so, how should I care for it - best location, frequency of watering etc?

There are threee distinct different sounds that rip me from my sleep and continue to keep me awake, The first is a buch of dinging/kocking noises. Then once the radiator gets up to steam its the usual loud hissing of the periodic steam release. Then its this loud gurgling bubbling noise that comes from the actual valve stem... PLEASE any help to quiet these radiators!!! Thanks :)

I went out to change our a/c filter over the weekend, and realized there had been a major a/c freezing up water leak. We live in FL, and haven't used the a/c in a few weeks because it finally got cold. All the water had dried, but now there is major black mildew. It happened since Christmas, when my husband was back in that corner of the garage putting away Christmas lights.
Anyway, I called an A/C repair guy. He looked at everything, says it all works fine, just very very dirty. (We haven't had it serviced in 5 years - big procrastinating mistake) Anyway he gave us an estimate to pressure wash outside unit to get the grime off, replace contactor, and remove and clean evoporator press/coils from the inside unit, total $650.
I'm just not sure about the last part, since you can't see them. That is the biggest cost (about $400). Can anyone advise me how to decide on this? Thanks.

I thought I saw suspender-like things that connect the sheet under the mattress and make the sheet taut like a fitted sheet.

Does anyone know anything like this?

I was just wondering at work today. I know you shouldn't use hot water moping a tile floor because it will mess the wax up.

** But does it REALLY matter the temperature of water when doing general cleaning?

We have a leak in one fo our walls and my husband accidentally put a small hole in it, I guess they have been breeding in it, coz now we have millions of the little horrors, in 3 different varieties (lucky us!) no matter what i do, they keep breeding and multiplying, a few minutes ago I even found an albino in the shower! How can we get rid of them? we have tried extermination, sprays, baits boric acid, but apparently its not just here, its the whole town, and breeding season. HELP!!!!!

We are renovating an old property which was originally a barn and converted to a house circa 1850. There does not appear to be a damp proof course anywhere and there are no floor membranes. One of the rooms has a brick floor as far as I can tell, they’ve been painted over and there is damp coming up through the it. We removed the pvc lino and there were pools of water under, which have dried out leaving use with damp. We would like to put some form of flooring but are worried it may make the problem worse. The walls are straw and earth as far as I can tell, and there are no air bricks. What can we do to stop the damp and what flooring could we use?
