The leaf has proven diuretic (hence the French name "pissenlit" meaning "pee in bed")

The old name for these plants is "Wetabed" the white liquid from inside the plant is a Diuretic as Sandy has said.
If you get this on your fingers and somehow then into the mouth it will cause your kidneys to create more urine.
This is where the name " wet the bed " comes from , because with children picking ( what they see as harmless plants ) it causes them to wet the bed in their sleep.
Hope this clarifies the issue with this plant.
