My jaw seems to be out of whack....like for about a year. It is constantly cracking and it seems to not be aligned correctly or something. sometimes it gets stuck and i am unable to open my nouth all the way. I dont think it is TMJ because it doesnt hurt its just annoying/frustrating. Got any ideas whats wrong? and if i got to a doctor should I see my dentist or physician?

The absess is towards my front teeth. I went to the dentist and he wanted to remove the tooth because my insurance would not pay for a rooot canal. You see I was not born with some teeth and it is a 11 in the area a 7 or 5 should be. (LOL I think that is right on the number) My top 3rd tooth.
Well being vain and not having the cash to pay a root canal I have been holding off.
Now I have a fever and my throat is swollen and it is very swollen under my chin. I have a sinus infection to top it off.
I know because I have allways been prone to them.
I have had this absess for over 6 months. And not on any meds for it.
With it going into my lymph nodes should I go to the ER or just wait till next week to be seen for antibiotics?

I know it is crazy to have waited this long.

I was in for a routine cleaning, and after the hygenist finished, the dentist did her usual 'checkup'. At one point, she told the hygenist to write down a particular tooth to check for 'next time'. She then proceeded to tell me I had a 'tiny' cavity on one tooth that she'd need to watch, and that with diligent brushing (which I already do) it might just 'go away'. I'd never heard that before. Is it really possible that once decay has begun it can actually be thwarted? I was under the impression that once a tooth began decay, it's continued deterioration was inevitable, but I'm not a dentist of course. Could any practicing dentists please comment on this? Should I ditch this quack and go somewhere that'll be more honest with me, or is she right?

I see alot of you are on at the moment. You are asking questions and answering questions. So I thought I would ask now to get more responces.

I appear to be allergic to Sodium Fluoride, my reactions were tipped for Stannous Fluoride ( some things were weaker, others were much stronger).

Do you know substitutes? Have you ever had any Patients like this? Are there any toothpaste you know about that have had positive results you or a coleage have seen?

Toothpaste has always burned worse then Listerine to me. I found out that wasn't normal a year or two ago. Finally had a Dentist that when I brought it up said it was an Allergy (all the things I described). He said they have started teahcing people have Allergies to things in toothpaste in school now but only covered flavoring for him.

I switched to a Fluoride Free toothpaste and didn't have side effects. But my jaw had been out of alignment for a couple years and with stress on top of that I have been grinding.

Does anyone here know what an absess is? I had one last night (pretty big) and went to the ER, to get it popped, (it was above my tooth) the docter refused to pop it, and gave me anti-biotics and darvaset, Late last night I started throwing up and still can't keep anything down, ( I just throwed up like 3 min. ago) Im just trying to sip tea, and water, I have had a fever since last night also, (it was 100 deg.) now that I am awake this morning it is 102.8, I looked at the absess, it is gone, I think it busted inside my gums! Is this life threatning, since it is full of puss and stuff? Or do I just have a bug? Thanks for answering, I feel so, so, bad right now.

Hi!
I just found out that I'm going to have to have a tooth extraction, because I have these two baby teeth that won't come out. I'm completly freaked out because I have no idea what it's gonna be like, cause I've never had a cavity or anything like that. Has anyone had a tooth extraction and can tell me what it's like???
Thanks!!! :D

i had my wisdom tooth extracted ( bottom right ) 3 days ago , i have pain still nothing really unbearable , but my jaw & ear aches the worst , i feel a throbbing sensation too , i was worried about a dry socket but from everything i have read it appears a dry socket is the worse kind of toothache pain , worse than when the tooth was still in , and thats not me , i did sorry and embarrassed to say i smoked a cigarette straight after i got out of the surgery ( i know i know my bad ) i also have the most worst taste in my mouth ever its horrible.

the hole where the tooth was extracted seems to be getting smaller and smaller by the day , but i do have a throb where the tooth use to be.

Is this normal after a wisdom tooth extraction to have these kinds of symtoms ?

i'm 33 years old and didnt even know i had 1 wisdom tooth left i thought i had them all pulled out when i was 16.

my gums are not swollen , not even really tender i know my dentists did say i may get referred pain thx

Hi. I'm currently a dental student in Japan. In Japan, there is a problem with dentist overload (too many dentist. so many that there are more dental clinic than post office). I was wondering if U.S. have the same problem or not.

I have 3 more years left before I get my dental degree in Japan. I would like to obtain dental license in US. How do I do that? Can I just go and take the National Board Exam or I need to go through education in US again.
Also, if I obtain a specialty, let's say orthodoctic specialty in Japan. Will US recognize that specialty or I still need to go through residency again in US. Any information will help! Thank you!

I have a crown that's on my last molar on the top right side of my mouth. My crown looks fine, but just before the gumline i can see the original tooth and it looks black. I dont know what to do, i really hope that it's not decayed because i can't afford to have surgury to replace the tooth. I have a crown in the same place on the other side and it too has similar features! I dont know what to do!

I've tried scraping at it with a tooth pick but the black wont come off. I use listerine every night and try to brush and floss regularly too. If it is an infection what can i do to kill it on my own? Please help me!!

I do not see the dentist until Monday and I am suffering from the most terrible cavity ever. It is located on the molar, and I rinse my mouth with salt water to dull the pain. I am on Aleve which I believe is the best. Any possible ways I can deal with the pain until Monday?

Well, my dentist said my top teeth are perfect except for one tooth, which is slightly higher, like 1/10 of an inch. On my bottom teeth, the 4 in the middle are overlapping each other very very slightly also. The dentist said I could use braces for 2 years if I wanted to make my teeth straight and perfect. However, she also said I could live without them. I just started 8th grade, but I don't really want braces because I'll have them in high school. However, I DO want them so my teeth will be straight for the rest of my life and college (I want to join a sorority, and they only pick pretty girls. It sounds superficial, but whatever.). Should I get braces? Tell me the experience you had with them, if you did.
