A sealant is just on the enamel of the tooth. You can touch your enamel with tons of things without pain. The enamel has no nerves...the nerves are under the layer of enamel...therefore, you shouldn't have pain. Some dentists widen the grooves with the drill, some with sandblasters, some don't need it at all. There's minly just noise, water, air, vibration, and a little pressure. The biggest complaints I get from sealnts is that they taste bad immediately after their done (the first couple of minutes).
Circumcision vs. sealant? No comparison

"a filling a circumcision" huh.... different parts of the body...

Just sealants should not hurt... that is just a layer of white amalgam to keep caries from forming in the crevices of your biting surface... No drilling etc.... just applying the sealant.

i've had a couple sealants and they never hurt. it just makes it hard to bite down for a day or two. basically all it is is the dentist puts stuff on your teeth and then uses this thing to make them dry. (in other words, yes they are applied)
