Hi. I'm currently a dental student in Japan. In Japan, there is a problem with dentist overload (too many dentist. so many that there are more dental clinic than post office). I was wondering if U.S. have the same problem or not.

HELLO,
THERE ARE ONLY 6 DENTAL SCHOOLS IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY. BASED ON WHERE YOU OPEN YOUR PRACTICE HERE, THERE IS AN ACTUAL SHORTAGE OF DENTISTS.

Depends on the area you practice in. I practice in San Francisco where there are tons! But I am overloaded with patients, some don't have enough. You would probably do well in an area with a high concentration of Japanese (like San Francisco's Japantown) where you are a native speaker and understand concerns better than a dentist that needs translation.

6 dental schools??? Where does doc Al get his info?. We have 2 in San Francisco, 3 in LA, 1 in Nevada, 1 in Colorado and there's Harvard, too... This is a drop in the bucket! There are closer to 40 dental schools in this country
