I am getting conflicting advise between the first dentist and an other second opinion. Is it best to fit the dentures immediatley following the teeth extraction or to wait 4 to 6 weeks and fit the dentures to healed gums?

hi - A while back I got very ill, and all my teeth either got very decayed or busted all apart, apparently my adrenals quit working for a few years (I have a family history of adrenal insufficiency) and so it looks like I'm not trying to take care of things, but I am, I brush several times a day - and for a while they were going to give up and pull all my teeth, but about a month ago or so my adrenals started to work again (Thank God) - I'm not at 100% yet, (more like 50% to 60 function) - but my teeth don't look so great. I really do want my teeth to look nice, but I'm not sure what's best - He's pulled 7 already and there's about 2-3 more that have to be pulled, and he's done stainless steel crowns on several (I honestly don't know why he hasn't done the other types of crowns - I'm assuming it was because of money (I'm on disability)) The problem is my lower jaw doesnt' quite hit right and on the lower side there isn't necessarily anything for him to anchor the partial to

Unsuccessful attempts to pull down a stubborn permanent tooth from the roof of my daughter's mouth (5th tooth back-- pre molar?) raised the whole row of her teeth on that side. After 6 years in braces (she is 18 now) is there any way to get the teeth (and bone structure) down again in line with the other side? The stubborn tooth has been removed with plans to replace it with an implant.

Hi! I am scheduled for an apicoectomy a week from today and scared out of my mind! I've never had "laughing gas" (though I have some slight lung issues), so I'm scared of that, as well.

Does anyone have some advice on what to expect, what to do to prepare, etc. Can I request that just a normal sedative that the doctor sugested be used to "calm me" instead of the gas? he said that I'd be awake, but I've had lots of problems on "calming" meds such as Ambien (manic happy wacky behavior / memory loss, etc.) and I just don't feel comfortable with the gas.

Thanks a lot for answering - anyone who has any experience would be helpful!

ive had the crown for over 2 years before i got it the dentist did a root canal on the tooth. when i was eating the crown just slipped out. it was completely painless it just came off. i washed it off brushed the inside of it and checked if it would fit back in. it did it fit back in and felt the same as it did before it fell out. so would the dentist just reglue it in? or would i have to get a completely new one? also the tooth under the crown looks the same as it did before i got the permanent one so i dont think any damage was done to it. (the temp crown came off because i had to wait so long for them to schedule me in to get my permanent one)

I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months and the last time she was digging and picking and scraping until there was a lot of blood going up thru the suction. Then she got out this ultrasonic cleaning device and really got down to business.
My teeth were sore for 2 weeks. Now when I eat cold or hot food, it makes my upper jaw and teeth ache until the temperature gets back to normal in my mouth. I have also noticed when I chew food, it is giving me a headache pain I would rate a 3 on a 0-10 scale. What is going on with my mouth? This has never happened to me before and I brush my teeth at least 3 times a day and floss at least 1 time daily.

I had three wisdom teeth pulled last year (I was 25). I thought those were the only ones I had, because my dental x-ray showed three (two on the bottom, one on top). Now, I swear I feel a bump on my upper left side (like what I felt when my upper right wisdom tooth was surfacing). My mom says, no it is impossible for you to have another wisdom tooth (but she's no dentist). Could it be possible that there was another tooth way back there, and that it is just now surfacing? I can only feel it with my tongue - when I reach back there, I don't feel anything, but it was like that with my other wisdom tooth. I'm supposed to go to the dentist next month, but am thinking of skipping it this year as my insurance doesn't cover dental, and I have other expenses. But, if I have a wisdom tooth growing in, I want to go because I'm afraid it will mess with my orthodontal work since it's likely there's no room for it to grow in. Is it even possible that there could be a wisdom tooth?

Do you have to get it removed and get a bone graft? What's a bone graft? This is the only complication with dental implants that scares me.

I got my 2 bottom wisdom teeth pulled out last wed.. I have a Mug (root beer) and Vanilla Coke here and I'm wondering if I should drink one, considering they stitched up my gums with dissolving stitches. Would the stitches dissolve to fast and not allow my gums to heal completely?

Also: one of my stitches completely disappeared last night, and others here on Y Answers said it's because I chewed more on that side. Would the soda infect my gums? (I'm taking 3 amoxycillin a day)

I live in Alabama and my husband has just been diagnosed with heart failure. He has weak and missing teeth and that makes it difficult for him to eat the vegetables and fruits that he should include in his diet. Due to his medical condition he is unable to take ibuprofen for the pain that his teeth cause. If anyone could tell us how he can get the dental care that he is in dire need of we would greatly appreciate it.Or if you can suggest a method of pain relief that would not be harmful to a man with congestive heart failure , that would be helpful. Thank You.

I've been experiencing pain and pressure in my ears lately, with the majority of the problems in my left ear. A few days ago, I noticed a tooth surfacing. I can only see a little white spot with a little redness. Could the tooth create problems within my ear? It's on the left side as well. I've also been kinda dizzy and have trouble focusing on objects at times. Everything seems blurred and after a few seconds sharpens up. Seems like a lot of trouble from just a tooth. =\
I guess I should note that I've already been to an ENT who performed a CT scan in the office, and he saw no problems with the ear itself. Also went for a cleaning at the dentist last month and was told all of my wisdom teeth were showing up on x-ray, but I haven't felt pain in my mouth and didn't know if these other things could be caused by them. So now I'm here. =P
Sorry if that's a lot of info. Just want to be sure!

for toothache. A friend of mine has given me co-codimol capsules that were prescribed for them. I have tried different pain-killers but nothing gives any lasting relief, but I am tempted to try one. Are they just a stronger pain-killer as I have never heard of them? They are 1000mg per tablet.
