The sedation is designed to relax you to the point where you won't feel dental pain.

Relax, breathe deep, and enjoy the dental visit. You're really going to like it.

No, you won't feel a thing. The area in question is thoroughly numbed before the root canal begins. Please try not to fret, as root canals are no big deal & I'm a big chicken when going to the dentist also. Once I get in the chair, & the dentist explains what I will feel & what he's about to do, I'm okay. I have a special beaded keychain that someone gave me a few years ago & I hold onto that whenever I go to the dentist. It keeps my mind occupied. The last root canal I had, went along so quickly & without incident, that both the dentist & his assistant were amazed. Be strong & you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to express your fears/concerns to the dentist before the procedure begins. Most dentists are compassionate & will calm you down as best as he/she can. :)

I doubt it. You'll be put into something that's called a "twilight sleep", probably using a sedative/hypnotic via IV administration. If you're really worried about something like that, just make sure they do a nerve block - tell them to do it after you've already gone under, but before they begin the actual procedure. That way, if they do hit a nerve, there will be no way that you'll feel anything.

No, it's a chemical sedation, it's not like when you're asleep and you hear a noise and wake up. They put you to sleep and you're going to stay asleep until the chemical wears off, never before then.
The pain after you wake up though, that's a whole different story.

If you get a root canal - the root is dead so you don't feel it. I've had several = and although its not pleasant , it doesn't hurt.
