The pain became severe only today. I had fillings on Tuesday. I use Listerine. I brush my teeth twice a day. I drank juice yesterday. Now drinking water pains my teeth. SOS.

Gingivitis means that your gums bleed because you have bacteria under your gumline. So floss and brush your teeth gently. After flossing daily for about 7 days the bleeding will stop as long as you continue to floss at least once daily.

Did the dentist say you have gingivitis...? I'm curious you just don't get it. It takes awhile... The cleaning should've helped although you are probably in pain...Well, take some asprin to ease the pain/swelling. I would go to the store and buy some Crest total control I think is the brand it helps gingivitis.. Keep using the Listerine atleast 2x's a day and floss if you can stand it... Keep you mouth as clean as possible... You can also swish with warm salt water or peroxide...Good luck

I have the start of gingivitis and my dentist recommended switching to an electric toothbrush, and it's really helped. In addition to cleaning your teeth, the rotating action is a really good massage for your gums that will stimulate blood flow and help halt your recession and bleeding. It's something to consider.

Also look into using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, at least until the pain stops.

Make sure you brush and floss even if your gums are sore, Be GENTLE when you brush. Get some Listerine (or store brand equivalent) and rinse with warm salt water. Also take your finger (after you WASH your hands!) and massage your gums in the areas that are sore. Take some Tylenol or Motrin and don't eat crunchy foods.

Are you sure it's gingivitis? It may be an allergic reaction to your teeth whitening procedure that's making your teeth and gums sensitive. Nevertheless, you have to be very careful when brushing and flossing your teeth and gums, but you should neglect them either. Take ibuprofen and rinse your mouth with warm salt water. That will bring some relief.
