I had three wisdom teeth pulled last year (I was 25). I thought those were the only ones I had, because my dental x-ray showed three (two on the bottom, one on top). Now, I swear I feel a bump on my upper left side (like what I felt when my upper right wisdom tooth was surfacing). My mom says, no it is impossible for you to have another wisdom tooth (but she's no dentist). Could it be possible that there was another tooth way back there, and that it is just now surfacing? I can only feel it with my tongue - when I reach back there, I don't feel anything, but it was like that with my other wisdom tooth. I'm supposed to go to the dentist next month, but am thinking of skipping it this year as my insurance doesn't cover dental, and I have other expenses. But, if I have a wisdom tooth growing in, I want to go because I'm afraid it will mess with my orthodontal work since it's likely there's no room for it to grow in. Is it even possible that there could be a wisdom tooth?

Call the office that extracted the three wisdom teeth last year. Tell them your symptoms.....They'll be able to tell you if you do indeed have another wisdom tooth remaining by the panorex xray. Then schedule a consultation appointment for another panorex or periapical xray so he can compare it to last year's. film. If the tooth is impacted in the bone, your medical insurance will pay a portion of the expense. Good luck!

Since you only had 3 wisdom teeth last year, this is your fourth and final one.
