That is some of the worst pain and without prescription narcotics you are sunk until thos eantibiotics start to kill the infection.
I would call your dentist back and get a prescription for pain meds. If it has been a couple days, make an emergency appointment to see him/her because the antibiotics should start working after taking them for 24 hours.
If you cannot get a prescription take some Motrin, but that will not likely help much on its own.

You can buy something like Orajel over the counter for a topical anesthetic. It won't stop pain completely but it will help diminish the pain until the antibiotic begins to work. It may take several days for the infection to subside.
Also, you can take a clove - one of those things that you see on top of a ham you bake - soak it in warm water and use a q-tip to apply to the gum. You shouldn't put the clove on your gum directly because it may cause a "burn" to the gum or the side of your mouth. Again, that is a temporary fix. This is in the spice area in the grocery store.
Lastly, there is a topical liquid called Sweet Oil that you can get from a drug store that you can apply the same way as the soaked clove. The Sweet Oil has an analgesic effect. It can also be dropped in the ear for an earache for temporary relief until you can see a doctor.
Be careful with the codeine and don't use alcohol or other drugs with it without asking the pharmacist or your dentist. Hope this helps.

Toothpaste that has tea tree oil in it. It's antibacterial and antiseptic. Melaleuca Wellness Company sells a good one. I've used it for really bad painful swollen gums, and it's gone down in two days. I spread the toothpaste over the painful area and sucked it in for awhile before spitting it out. They also have a good mouth rinse too.

Oil of clove or a whole clove held against the offending tooth will help with the pain. It will take about 3 days for the antibiotics to kick in and start working. The codiene should be working.

Goi chemist and ask for a bottle of clove oil, you don't need a prescription... very cheap, about €2. apply liberally with a cotton bud directly to the tooth for instant relief... avoid getting too much on the inside of your cheek cos it could make it kinda dry.

Rescue Remedy and Chamomilla will help you. Both can be got from your neighborhood health food store. Chamomille tea is good. Or take Chamomilla 6C homeopathic medicine.

Oragel works really well, because I have braces and part of my gums are irritated, so I'm using Oragel for it. You can find it at your local Walgreens. You're not the only one.

You will have to wait until it is repaired for total pain relief. Until then, good luck.
