I've got 5 kids, aged 3-11, and my 11 year old son has really bad teeth. Every time he goes to the dentist he needs to get at least one filling, he had fillings in practicaly all of his baby teeth. How can I make sure his adult teeth don't end up the same? I didn't mind him getting fillings in his baby teeth cos I knew they would fall out, but I don't want him to end up with fillings in all his adult teeth.

All the kids has got fillings already, even the little one, so I guess none of them has got really GOOD teeth, but my 11 year old is the worst. They do eat sweets and stuff, but I make sure they brush their teeth before they go to bed. Is there any special toothpaste or anything I can use to stop them getting such rotten teeth?

My teeth are pretty bad too, I've got lots of fillings in them and I've had lots of root canals, is it something that I coul.d have passed on to the kids??

You can barely see it, but when i pass my fingernail along my tooth it catches. It extends up roughly a third of my tooth. It doesnt hurt, i havent banged my teeth and ive no idea where the crack came from. I plan to see a dentist ASAP. What could have caused this and what should i do?

I see my root canal dentist on Monday but it is no fun waiting. Pain is only at night. Laying down makes things much worst but sittling up is tolerable. Ambesol is of minimal help. Location of pain is under tooth that has had 2 root canals so far (1 about 10 years ago and the other 5 months ago).

I got a temporary filling about a month ago - I've been waiting for my dental insurance to kick in at work to go back to the dentist to have the rest of the work done, but that doesnt kick in until the middle of july. Will my temporary filling last that long or should I go back to the dentist ASAP?

I was recently diagnosed with early periodontitis. My whole life my gums and teeth have been normal and healthy. Then last year i had a family emergency and began slacking a little on my oral hygiene, but still brushed every day, just no flossing. I am back to brushing twice daily and flossing once daily. I am having root planing and scaling done. I know the slight gum loss i've had can't be reversed, but can i completely eradicate the gum disease and stop further progression and gum and bone loss by maintaining good oral hygiene,

My daughter is 6 1/2 and most of her baby teeth are gone. The top front two are coming through but spaced out inbetween. Is that normal, or will it stay like that? If so, does that mean she will need braces when she gets older. Also, what age is appropriate to get braces if she needs them? Thank you.

I'm really scared about going to the dentist but I'm sure I need some work done on my teeth. I haven't seen a dentist since I was 15 and I'm now 24. I know that's really bad.

Anyway, I wondered whether I could get anything from my GP that would make me more relaxed when I go? I know they'll sometimes give you something when you're going for fillings and stuff, but would they give me something if I was just going for a first appointment and was really scared?

Also, can you make an appointment and just go and speak to a dentist without them looking in your mouth the first time? Or would they consider that a waste of their time? I just don't think I could handle it all at once, I'm REALLY anxious about going, and I wouldn't go except for the fact that I know I have some cavities and I don't want them to get really bad and give me toothache.

Some commercials would have you believe that the toothbrush has a heathier impact on your teeth than toothpaste. And others, say the opposite. What do you think? Toothpaste, or toothbrush?
