You can barely see it, but when i pass my fingernail along my tooth it catches. It extends up roughly a third of my tooth. It doesnt hurt, i havent banged my teeth and ive no idea where the crack came from. I plan to see a dentist ASAP. What could have caused this and what should i do?

I have suffered no trauma of any sort that could reasonably cause this.

I do not drink tea or coffee. I have an overbight, and thus cannot grind my front teeth.

amissybell, why don't you watch who you're calling gay? Saktoth happens to be my boyfriend. Don't bloody well make assumptions like that. Not only that, he's asked a perfectly serious question, clearly after a serious response.

Sorry Saktoth, you already know that I think you should go and see a dentist about it to see if it's in danger of cracking completely and that I don't know what would have caused it.

It's possible that you clench or grind your teeth while you sleep. This can cause small superficial cracks in the teeth. Go see your dentist and try to keep it clean cuz if you get a cavity in there it could be painful.

dude u should see how fckd up my teeth were after i got my braces removed. the surfaces were all ruined cos of the glue used to fix them on for 3 years. when the braces were chiseled off, i reckon the glue was so strong it took some of the enamel with it. the roughness remained for over a year.

a number of things could have happened. the first thing that comes to mind is that you are grinding your teeth and thinned the enamel enough to chip it away while you were asleep. another thing is you used your teeth like i do even tho i know better- to bite a thread or something and that end to end stress fractured it. most times when things fracture you do not know it until later

hm it might because of coffee or tea. Use sandpaper to remove it. It really work. Try to brush your teeth after you eat, and after that, do not eat again. hm
