I do know what caused my phobia. When I was 6 or 7 I was scared of the dentist because he was very insensitive to people who hated going. He deliberately hurt me and shouted at me, so I bit him. He slapped me hard around the face twice then told my mother I had become hysterical and he had to do it. Fact is he slapped me for biting him. Been scared sh*tless ever since. I know think all dentists are like this. I have broken two back teeth, they just sheered off and one tooth became very loose so I pulled that out myself last weekend. That is how desperate I am getting.

WOW! You're pretty tough to pull out you own tooth. That must have been a pretty traumatic experience and since it happened to you when you were a child I'm sure it seriously messed you up. Look at it this way. You can find a dentist who is kind and sensitive and when he hears what happened to you I'm sure he will be extra careful. Once you find him, just know that getting over your fears and getting your teeth taken care of now will save you a lot of heartache in the long run. The longer you wait the worse it will be. Getting it over with now will only lessen what you will have to go thru. If you get a good dentist, even one who doesn't charge that much, the pain will be minimal. Talk to your friends or people at work and find out who they like and ask them about their experiences. If you have money, there are dentists offices that can do wonders for you and advertise luxurious offices and can even put you to sleep or entertain you with satelite tv or radio while you get it done. Don't worry, it will be OK.

Do some homework. Start calling or asking around. Search for a 'pain free' dentistry office. Make an appointment for a 'cleaning' . Most offices will offer an exam and x rays at a reduced rate for new patients. This will afford you the opportunity to meet the new dentist.

It won't be a bad ordeal at all, doctors and dentists are there for you. If you fix whatever problems you have you will have ugly diseased teeth with rotten breath and no one will wanna be near you.
No Dentist: No one wants to be around you.
With Dentist: Clean healthy teeth and you feel good too!

You have to ask around for a gentle dentist.Once you find him, start with the smallest prosejor. One thing at a time.Little by little get your teeth fixed. We only get one set of teeth.Dentures are no fun,in plants are expensive. What came out was part of the broken tooth.Adult teeth have very long roots, you can't just pull them out like that.

I worked in a dental office as the person who set up and cleaned the room, walked patients to the room and talked with scared patients (mostly children). It really isn't a scary experience, the key is to keep yourself calm. If it's a major procedure you will have painkillers, relaxants ect and you won't feel any pain. Try to relax, it's not as bad as you think it is.

have your primary physician perscribe you a few xanax to get through the procedure or ask the dentist himself if he can call you in some and you'll be so relaxed you won't even feel that tooth being ripped by the root out of your mouth. good luck!

I'm always very comfy when they work on my teeth. They recline you, get real close and do some maintenance on parts of the mouth that need fixing. Just pretend you are a car, and they are mechanics. They'll take care of you!
