I've seen questions here asking if there are diseases that can cause someone to have a blood alcohol content. Most people said, "no," but there were a couple answers that suggested either a blood yeast infection or a form of diabetes could produce in the blood a level of alcohol or something that mimics it. What I want to know is if it's possible for these diseases to register a blood alcohol content that's 3-4x the legal limit.

There is someone important to me who has had a problem with drinking in the past. I went to see her in the hospital recently. She thought she had pneumonia, but the only thing tests revealed was a BAC of almost .38! She swears up & down that she hasn't had a lick of liquor in almost a month, but the doctors & nurses say the only way to get a BAC that high is to drink excessively. I'm desperate to believe her, but I just can't trust her. What do you say?

My father, who is a cancer patient, was diagnosed with Legionnaire's disease yesterday. Is there any way the plastic Brita pitcher we keep in our fridge can harbor the bacteria? We have never sterilized the pitcher, and we don't have any humidifiers, pools, or standing water.

MR imaging of the brain reveals evidence of focal parenchymal lesion in the right posterior parietal region in the subcortical white matter. T1 weighted axial images shows a pin head sized nodular hypointensity with an isointense margin.FLAIR axial coronal images show signal attenuation in the lesion suggesting its cystic nature. No vasogenic oedema seen around lesion.
My 8 yr old neighbour is having this problem. Would be grateful if anyone throws light on the nature of this condition and possible treatment options.

I bought a mooncup collector, it isn't absorbent so doesn't increase the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome, also reusable for years so doesn't polute the planet, I've been using it for about 8 months now and wanted to spread the news! Anyone else thinking about them or had any experiences, go here for a closer look. http://www.mooncup.co.uk/wc.php?u=1086

After I have a nice, hot shower, I get these lil hives all over my body, mostly on my chest, back, and stomach. It looks like I showered with mosquitos! I thought that it could be a reaction to the soap I was using, so I changed brands... several times. This has been going on for a few years at least, and I doubt I'm the only one with this problem.

The rash, which look like bug bites, always appears after a shower. I'm not sure if it appears after swimming as I haven't really checked.

What causes these hives? Chemicals in the water?
