Having quit smoking myself 18 months or so ago, I would tell you that whatever "aid" you use, the only thing that really works is willpower. You have to really want to give up for yourself, not for any other reason. You can use patches, fake ciggies, zyban, etc etc etc but the thing that will get you through it in the end is your own determination.
Change your routines, buy plenty of stuff in for cleaning. Take walks when the cravings hit, or have a bath, or do a cleaning task. My house was the cleanest in town for about three weeks. Put the money you would have spent in a place where you can see it grow. Promise yourself something out of the proceeds. We have had three hols abroad from our quit money!!

I can assure you this is no easy task ,has your surgery got a smoking cessation clinic???.If so make an appointment and go along to talk to someone trained in this field.
There are lots of aids to assist in your quit, patches, gum, lozengers, welbutrin, some people swear by a book by ALAN CARR ,might be worth having a look at this .
There are many online websites as well it may be worth typing ...giving up smoking...in a search engine.
There is one i found was a major help to me called quitnet,www.quitnet.com.they have 24/7 support online, check it out just might be what your looking for .I find its great to be around others that are going through the same as yourself.
I hope you succeed, and i wish you luck.

Just stop. Simply don't buy them. I did this three months ago and haven't had one since. I got hooked on this instead!!!. You just have to work through the withdrawal symptons - you will get them. I always find it difficult after the initial euphoria of giving up has worn off. Bizarrely, I am craving cigarettes more now than I did when I first gave up! Good luck.

Cold turkey. Give your house and car a deep cleaning with plenty of Febreze so you won't smell the smoke and trigger a craving. Chewing gum helps, too.

Cold turkey is the best way. They should be too expensive by now anyway. By me they're almost $8 a pack. Forget that.
