Specifically, a calorie is the amount of energy, or heat, it takes to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit). One calorie is equal to 4.184 joules, a common unit of energy used in the physical sciences. A calorie is also the unit of measurement of energy produced by food when it is oxidized, or used, in the body. You need to maintain a balance between the amount of calories you take in (food) and the amount of calories you use (exercise). You "burn" your body's fuel - calories - when you perform physical activities, and you also burn calories just by sitting still, breathing and living each day. Each person is different when it comes to the amount of calories he or she needs each day. The amount of calories a person needs for fuel varies according to age, height, gender, amount of physical activity and other factors. Therefore, your question can not be directly answered unless you know what the pound (presumably weight) contains.

?? it depends! a pound of chocolate heaps, a pound of apples a lot less, ditto popcorn, sugared /salted/ plain all would vary!
a pound is a weight!
a calorie is a measurement of nutrient density per gram of food carbs ie vegies fruits whole grains, have 4 calories per gram, fats and sugars 9!
so 2lbs of apples is good for health fibre and nutrition, the same in a fatty or sweet food is good for nothing but profit to the company that sold it!
and bad for you.

a pound of fat has approximately 3300 calories, so to lose two pounds of fat in a week, you need to decrease your caloric intake by 6600 calories a week.
