You need to see your MD. Peritonsilar abscess is a big deal,and can lead to a more involved infection in an around the tonsils Usually you have high fevers,chills and severe headaches,and a very painful throat,and vi sable swelling of the tonsil,and sticky white exudate.Until you have a "quick strep" test you don't know what sort of bacteria you have,so the appropriate antibiotics can be started.Usually not contagious,the infection is confined to the tonsil. But you need to keep any beverage cups and glasses,and silverware to yourself,until this has cleared up. Take care SW FNP

could be, depends on wwhat caused the absess, virus or bacterium. so no tonsil hockey until you are healed up.

Only I suspect if you kiss someone. Hopefully you have seen a doctor and are receiving appropriate management?
