I've been sick since Thursday morning. I have a soar throat, stuffy nose, lymph nodes are swollen, I had a headache for the first two days. Today I blew my nose and saw a faint line of red/orange in there and thought no big deal. Well again I've seen blood and I am a bit concerned. Also today just after waking up I was having trouble talking, I think I may be loosing my voice. I would appreciate anyones help on this. I'm 13 by the way. My mom dosen't quite like taking me to the doctor so I need to know if this is serious.

3 weeks ago, I had a very very stuffy nose. I also kept on coughing up phlegm. My doctor presribed me with antibiotics and my condition became better.

Now, I can normally breathe and I don't cough up phlegm anymore nor my breathing is affected but I can still feel something in my left nostril. When I close my right nostril to breathe, I can feel there's something blocking it. Could this still be a cold?

I have been suffering with bronchitus and an upper respitory infection for 7 days and feel almost as bad today as I did when I first came down with it. I went to the doctor on the 4th day because the coughing hurt so deeply and I could barely breath. He gave me cough syrup with codeine and an inhaler to help me breath. He told me that since I was almost "done" he wouldn't give me the antibiotics. Well, I'm most certainly not almost done. My chest is on fire and when I breath I have a rattling in my chest. I feel like a wet dishrag all worn out.

In the past I've received antibiotics and was better in a day or so. Why this new take on the drug. I'm suffering but am now too sick to even drive myself to the doctor.. Any ideas about this?

My wife was just getting over bronchitis when she had a setback. She thinks she caught it a second time from me. I came down with it 3 days after she did. If she's right the cycle may never end.

Ok, I've been having cold symptoms for couple weeks, starting 2 months ago -sore throat, general malaise/weakness, feeling tired and coughing (dry cough).

While all other symptoms went away on their own....the cough persisted and has gotten worse. Feels like it's coming from somewhere deep now, like the lungs, not sure. I cough soooo hard that my lower back HURTS. I even wondered if it's kidney pain I was/am feeling.

A week ago, out of the blue, I woke up with the most severe throat pain of my life. So I went to a walk- in- clinic. They gave me antibiotics (amoxicilin) and did a Strep test.

My question is: I just got the Strep test results -positive. The walk-in clinic is closed until Wednesday, there's no one to tell me what the result means. Today I am feeling kinda sick again, with sore throat pain coming back. So what does Strep positive means???? What could be the complications or problems from it? How is it treated?

In addition when I wake up in the morning after a relatively good sleep, I cough up a large amount of mucus (snot) that is dark green in colour, I estimate the amount to be about a tablespoon full, I went to the chemist and brought some medicine, but the assistant said I may need to go to the doctors as I may need anti-biotics, what is wrong with me?

Okay, so about a week ago i had a bad cough and then it developed into a cold. The whole congested nose and cough thing. Then about four days ago my ears got really clogged i guess? I'm not sure how to describe it but they feel full and i can't seem to hear as well. Everything seems muffled. It's really bothersome especially when I'm with a large group of people and im trying to hear them. Any idea what it is or what i can do?

I'm desperate it's pretty annoying and I'm not willing to go to the doctors just yet. Maybe i'll wait a few more days.

Oh and it's definitely not ear wax it feels like deep inside my ear

I have a cold and I can't go out and walk/go to the gym/etc. because I'm sick.

Any suggestions on eating healthy and losing weight while nursing an upper respiratory infection?

I wish I'd known this when my family was young during winter colds and coughs. I am going to try it myself. Share with young parents. Isn't life strange. When we had a lecture on Essential Oils, they told us how the foot soles can absorb oils. Their example: Put garlic on your feet and within 20 minutes you can 'taste' it. Some of us have used Vicks Vaporub for years for everything from chapped lips to sore toes and many body parts in between. But I've never heard of this. And don't laugh, it works 100% of the time although the scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered it) aren't sure why.
To stop night time coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly.
I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these findings on the part of their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like acupressure. Just happened to tune in AM. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs so,I listened. It was a surprise finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly
Polly tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free for hours every night that she used it.
If you have grandchildren, pass it on. If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be absolutely amazed by the effect.

Ok so I have been half way disgnosed with asthma (I'm still have to do all kinds of tests) caused by a mold issue. I'm 18 and have always been a really serious runner. I went running today and I think I might have had an attack. My doctor told me tell her if I had one. My question is, how do you know if you are having an asthma attack.

I live in Canada and have an appointment for a first consultation with a surgeon in mid January regarding my deviated septum and crooked nasal bone. The appointment was made in late July so the waiting time just for the consultation has been nearly 6 months.

1. Is it common to have another consultation before the operation? Is it actually expected?

2. What is the average waiting time between the first consultation and the actual operation? I know this is a difficult question to answer with 100% accuracy, but I figure there must be some kind of average.

Thanks in advance.
