I am sorry to hear about your asthma. Try to relax.
Make sure your environment is dust free. Is your bed, pillow and case, sheet and covers, being changed lately. No pets. Sometime, certain meat can also trigger attacks (pork, beef, chicken and seafood).
I buy new pillows every month. They don't cost that much. It is better than not able to breath. I wash my sheets and covers every week. My bed is replaced every year. No books or stuff in my room.
I cook my own food. Everytime I went out for dinner, I come home sick and with asthma attacks.
Your doctor is very smart, but you own yourself better.
I hope you feel better.

Talk to your doctor about a preventative inhaler medication, which you take every day (sometimes twice a day), to prevent an attack from starting. It works, if taken regularly.
I have had asthma for over 30 years, and was hospitalized after a series of severe attacks and a partially collapsed lung, and was put onto this medication soon after. Instead of having sometimes daily attacks, I haven't had a full blown attack for the 6 years I've been taking it, and only had minor inconvenience with low grade asthma rarely.
I can't give you the name as it may be marketed under different names where you are, but the doctor should know. See him/her for help.

Seriously, if one left you "almost dead" you need to get another doctor or get to the ER. There are long acting meds for asthma that you can take along w/ your quick acting inhaler such as Proventil. I assume you are on Proventil or similar? If not, I am sure the ER would RX one. They will stop most asthma attacks or at least ease them so you don't think you are dying. Something is wrong w/ your doctor and your meds if you are taking meds and still have that many in a week, let alone a day. Good luck to you.

The attacks are mainly triggered by stressful episodes. And i believe this is mentioned by your doctor.
I can relate to you and the tough moments you are going through.
Try to have a longer-term perspective of the 'moments' and you may find that they will pass and that perhaps you are too anxious, thus 'stressed'.
Remember the song 'what will be , will be' and sometimes there is nothing we can really do about the matter, except wait patiently and accept the outcome, however it turns out.
If you are religious, then trust ing on your creators to bring you through will help.

I think you need mild anti-depressants to destress you, to start with. Then in the long run, please take up meditation through an organisation called "Art of Living". They teach you breathing exercises which de-stress you and increase your lung capacity. Hope you can find an AOL in your locality. Believe me it really works. And its spiritual, not religious like some "hare rama" cult, so you dont have to worry about giving up your religious beliefs.
All the best.

okay first of all you need to find out why you are so stressed and then get over your problem which will inturn reduce your asthma triggering.
then you have to visit a doctor and if that has failed go to a&e immediatly.

I think you need to relax, take sometime to pamper yourself, and get away from your stress... if stress caused this then you know what you have to get rid of to get better right? Also, don't get to active and stay on your medz... just a bit of a guess, but I hope it helps
Ps, some of these people are idiots :P
