My wife was just getting over bronchitis when she had a setback. She thinks she caught it a second time from me. I came down with it 3 days after she did. If she's right the cycle may never end.

Bronchitis is a secondary infection, developed from a cold, so it's not actually contagious. You can't catch the same cold twice, either, but if your resistance is low (particularly if you've been on antibiotics for the bronchitis) then it's easy to catch another cold that's going around, and with low immune system it could then easily develop into bronchitis again, if that's what you're susceptible to.

Ideally when you have any sort of infection you should have lots of Vitamin C, echinacea, garlic, honey and anything else that helps to build up your immune system. If you take antibiotics, then it's also vital to take natural yogurt or acidophilus so as to repopulate your gut with some of the good bacteria that are killed off along with the bad ones.

If you haven't gotten over it and then over exert or get chilled (example) you can have a set back. You aren't really over it till you stop coughing. You can even end up worse. Last time I did something dumb (I've dealt with bronchitis since I was about 8 when I had bronchial pneumonia) I ended up with walking pneumonia.

Bronchitis itself isn't contagious, but the virus that led to it is.

I had bronchitis when I was 10 and mine was really bad. I'd cough and cough until I threw up. The doctor I went to told me that bronchitis isn't contagious, but I'm pretty sure that when you get it you always have it. I'm not a doctor, this is just from personal experience.
