My father is 63 years old, in general good health. he is helping me raide my daughter since i escaped an abusive marriage. he is still working, and frankly has too since his proffession has always made enough to just make ends meet but not save a whole lot.
anyway, ten days ago he was diagnosed with pneumonia. his only symptoms were a high fever and mild pain when breathing very deep, but a chest x ray confirmed the diagnosis. oral and injected antibiotics, both taken daily and twice a week IV antibiotics were completely inneffective, and yesterday, when his fever hit 102.5 despite the treatment he was hospitalized. the pleura seems inflames on the x ray, not sure what that signifies.he is on 4 different IV antibiotics. this morning his fever was down to 99 at last but by this afternoon was back up to 100.3.
i feel sick with worry. i have been praying, but being a foolish mortal, i need someone who has knowlage in this area to tell me how worried i ought to be. will he be OK?

There draw looks like a chemist! Do you think there frequent ilness is due to the amount of drugs they all take. They are also veggies if that matters?

I was in the hospital for 5 days for pneumonia. I was released 10 days ago and still get so tired. I get a good nights sleep and I am trying not to over do it. Like so many others, I work and I have a family to take care of, (kids ages 7,9, and 10).

The old saying is a mother can not afford to get sick. I just would like to hear from others who have had pneumonia and see what their recuperating time was.

I am scheduled to go back to the doctors this Friday for a two week follow up and new x-rays.

Thanks for the help

I have heard people say their children take breathing treatments, and I am just curious as to what that means and why it is required.

My good friend recently gave birth to a gorgeous little boy, but they've discovered he has a very bad case of cystic fibrosis. Somebody told me that this means he won't live for very long. Can anyone tell me if that is true? They're being very positive and right now he seems like a healthy and happy baby. I feel that it's too sensitive a subject to question her about it directly.

I went on vacation to a third world country and came back with a really bad cough. I've had it for 3 months now, typically worse at nights. The doctors (yeah I've been to many) diagnosed it with bronchitis but I'm assuming it is chronic bronchitis since I've had it for such a long time. I've tried everything from antibiotics, liquid cough syrups to steriods which helped temporarily but didnt cure it. I've also tried some home remedies like honey with lemon, warm milk with prune in it, and some other things. I'm so sick of this haunting me. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have Pneumonia and have done some reading on it. It is a virus
that is sometimes triggered by inhaling a chemical? Also germs and the spreading of germs. I ask my place of work to see the MSDS book. No one had any idea where the book was. Isn't it the law , that these books be made available when requested?
