My father is 63 years old, in general good health. he is helping me raide my daughter since i escaped an abusive marriage. he is still working, and frankly has too since his proffession has always made enough to just make ends meet but not save a whole lot.
anyway, ten days ago he was diagnosed with pneumonia. his only symptoms were a high fever and mild pain when breathing very deep, but a chest x ray confirmed the diagnosis. oral and injected antibiotics, both taken daily and twice a week IV antibiotics were completely inneffective, and yesterday, when his fever hit 102.5 despite the treatment he was hospitalized. the pleura seems inflames on the x ray, not sure what that signifies.he is on 4 different IV antibiotics. this morning his fever was down to 99 at last but by this afternoon was back up to 100.3.
i feel sick with worry. i have been praying, but being a foolish mortal, i need someone who has knowlage in this area to tell me how worried i ought to be. will he be OK?

Ask the doctor attending if they still feel he has pnemonia. If he did have it, there should have been some response by now I would assume, they are giving him a lot of antibiotics which take a few days to work.

When he does break the fever, that will be a good sign. With all the antibiotics, he will need to take some good probiotics to help rebuild the flora in his intestines. It is something you purchase in the health food store, get the refrigerated kind, Renew Life is good, I use it.

Keep praying, I will send up a prayer for him too. Take care.

A person his age in, other wise good health, should recover ok........if not showing marked improvement in a couple of days ask for referal. If his Dr. is not threatened, he will not be offended and if he is, so what? It's your dad's health, not the Dr's.
