I think its cruel to smoke as when you do finally die from it your not the one suffering your family and friends will be with grief from a stupid horrid habit :l

Give it up.

It depends....growing up many of my friends were annoyed that one or both of their parents smoked. However in public some people can just be down right rude and get up on their high horse by giving you dirty looks or getting so frightened as if your an axe murder or something or pretending to cough and telling you that smoking kills. It's your choice do what you want. But if you have children you should think of how this might effect them and how they may be embarrassed by it. I would recommend trying to cut down...and smoke in moderation because if your constantly smoking than obviously your hair, nails, and breath are going to smell like chemicals all the time and that can be very unattractive. Try to upgrade to a closet-smoker. But quiting all together is much better.

This can be way beyond annoyance when wheezing and coughing and bronchospasm occur due to someone smoking close to a person who is allergic to smoke. It is also a known carcinogen ( second hand smoke) and I find that poisoning others is annoying in a big way, kids, infants old folks, healthy lunged humans and others should not be forced to breathe in the toxins from other people's smoking.

Even when i smoked (smoke free for 5 years now) i didn't like being in a room with people smoking. I hated going to pubs because of the intense smell and i think anyone who smokes indoors or in cars with other people (especially their children) in there are inconsiderate. I always moved away from a group, even if we were outside, to smoke. Its just manners. Not only that, but give it up for a day or too and then go near someone else who smokes.... you will notice how bad they smell. Thats what stops me from lighting up when i crave one. Who wants to smell like that?

I'm always annoyed when I walk by people on the street who are smoking or if they start smoking in the tables outside a restaurant. It smells really really bad and gives me a killer head ache. I always ask them to please put it out and most will, but some just don't seem to care that I'm feeling sick because of their smoke. Be considerate of non-smokers and don't light up in public places.

It depends on how polite you are about smoking in public. On my college campus, they allow smoking. I have nothing more then when I am sitting on a bench eating my lunch and a smoker comes up next to me and just lights up. It really just depends on wether you are nice about it, but I would say that smoking generally irritates non smokers. I also hate walking on the streets in SF and people in front of me are smoking...i get to suck on their smoke the whole way.

some people (like me) grow up in a place where people smiked consistently, they may not like it but they can bear through it rather well
-or-
some people absolutely detest smoking and will call you out on it any chance that they get it,
-or-
some people don't like smoking and it annoys them some, they don't just shout at you(2) and they don't ignore it(1) they will look at you funny sometimes and well, they might ask you not to smoke there!

If you are smoking in public places, hell yes. We cancer patients know the effect of smoking and second hand smoke. Quit being a jerk.

Annoying people is the least of your problem if you are dousing your children with second hand smoke...you could be killing them slowly. Email me...I'll talk to you.

Ask the people around you. I know who I can smoke around and who not to. I don't even take my cigs to certain people's houses. I don't take my cigs to any cub scout event. I don't take them to my mom in laws house or my grandparent's. My grandfather is allergic to smoke. Just ask and be respectful of their choice too.
