My 16 yr old son has quite a bad chest infection, and the doc has put him on anti biotics. He is having trouble sleeping (although he is really tired) as when he drops off, his breathing becomes heavier and the pain of the breathing wakes him up. Any suggestions? I can't give him hot milk because of the medication he is on.

She is 8 yrs old and had a bad cough which was making her eyes red as she coughed so much. The vet gave her antibiotics and said after that there was no infection. On odd days she has trouble breathing and her nostrils are flared. The vet has it could be an allergy. She is loosing weight badly. she is happy in herself though. She has always had this problem since we got her. She has been wormed and is fed regularly in small amounts. What can we do??

i know what mono is, my sister had a bad case of mono, she was in the hospital for a while, so i dont need to know what it is. i was recently (2 weeks ago) really sick, i had a really sore throat, i had/have a fever, but it comes and goes. i was given a z-pack, but it didnt even work. i've been to 2 different doctors, the first said i had a sinus infection, the second said the first was wrong and i had a virus.
i think they were both wrong, because during both visits the doctors came in and were out in a matter of minutes, it seemed like they didnt even care.
i didnt think anything of it at first, but then i started thinking, maybe i have mono?
-i've been VERY tired lately, i cant seem to ever wake up, even when i want to wake up, i simply cant because im so tired.
-ive also had a serious loss of appetite, i barely eat anymore, im just not hungry. i eat maybe 2 meals a day, thats it.
-i still have a sore throat
-i have a runny nose
-my body is just sore, i cant work out or do anything

I noticed that whenever I drink fluids or eat anything I always end up having to cough or clear my throat due to excess mucous. I am not sick or anything I do have allergies, but I don't have post nasal drip. I am unsure what could be causing me to clear my throat after eating. What should I do?

Hey,

I was suffering from flu-like symptoms that began 3 days ago. These included:

Dry Cough
Muscle Ache [legs and lower back]
Fatigue
Fever
Chills
Nausea

Just recently those symptoms have subsided (I'm still a little weak, but no fever, chills or muscle ache) and my cough has started to produce phlegm.

I noticed this morning that I am coughing up green-colored stuff. I am wondering if this is a sign of post-flu pneumonia. I don't have a fever, or a sore chest. I'm not having any trouble breathing. Is pneumonia likely when the coughing is my only symptom? What are the normal early stages of pneumonia? Is coughing up colored phlegm a normal part of my dry cough becoming a productive one?

I'll likely see a doctor if it persists for more than a few days or worsens, but any insight is mucho appreciated. Thanks.

My mother has told everyone he cannot have flowers or plants in the house, because "it might take away his breath". I feel the flowers/plants are good for him, since last I heard, they give off oxygen and take in the carbon dioxide he breathes out. Am I wrong to feel she is denyinig him something he may enjoy during his illness? How do I convince her she is wrong?

My mother has been diagnosed with weird illness , or least in her point of view. Her symptoms changes in months which is an odd thing, she takes regular painkiller the hospital has given her. They gave it to her thinking that theres something wrong with her ribcage when she inhales.

My mom tells me she has daily chest pains and that she feels her breath is shorten when she inhales, when she inhales it seems that her lung is blocked and she cannot inhale completely. Lately her jaws feels tired and weary out easily when she chews and her veins seems to feel shocked a bit sometime, a sharp pain. When she stop drinking the pills the doctor gave the pains seems to come back and so she gotta keep taking them.

We've been to the hospital and GP so often, yet through all her breathing test, blood test from artery and so on, and her x-ray seems perfectly fine.

What could be the cause of this? is my mom life at risk and the doctors can't seem to find a treatment? I fear for my mother life..

I'm going to try to get him there today but I'm not very sure. I think he has the flu or at least the symptoms of it. He is very hoarse. His nose is running constantly. He cries all of the time. He has a hyrocele(private parts are swollen). His head is stopped up. He spits up his milk a lot. He just recently started keeping his food and milk down a few days ago. He's been sick about a week and a half now off and on. I've been giving him motrin and tylenol for fever. I've also been rubbing Baby Vick's on his feet and putting socks on which I just found out yesterday that they made a Vick's Vapor Rub just for babies. If I can't get him to the doctor today, it will be after the new year's. So I want to know is there something esle I can do for now. He is also on breathing treatments. He takes Pulmocort instead of Albuterol. I mix the Pulmocort with Xaponex(may not be correct spelling).

Thanks in advance.

Over the last week or so i developed a rather severe cold but with it has come this really nasty cough. I am only a little wheezy when not having a coughing fit and have no chest pains but when the cough comes on it can last for ages. I am unable to catch my breath and it feels like 'I can't get the whole cough out'. With this i get a prickly sensation in my throat and the cough gets worse at night. Last night for example I had 15 mins sleep in total because every time i dozed off i woke up spluttering and gasping for breath and took me hours to be able to breathe again properly. can a cold bring on asthma that is normally lying dormant? I guess my real concern is its a bank holiday so do i really want to go to A&E and waste their time? But do i also want another night fearing for my life? I was very close to calling an ambulance last night but then it calmed down. any ideas?

I am a 15 year old male and recently have been a little sick. Like stuffy nose, etc. For the past couple of weeks, when i wake up in the morning I find it hard to breathe. THe heater is on and it is like kind of hot for me in my room but like should that affect me thinking if I am breathing properly? Like I have anxiety but I doubt this is anxiety related. Its just like its hard to breathe even if the heater is slightly on in the morning. I dont have astma or anything. My heart is fine, also. Is it anxiety related?

It's a little weird and almost makes me wonder if i'm making myself do this but i feel something itchy with my throat.

so, i got sick and had a sore throat, then runny nose which drained back and then i was with a cough.i was spitting up phlem for a bit but now im down to a cough.

for two nights i have this cough attack but it's only when i know i'm about to go to sleep or atleast i think thats it..it feels like everytime i try to breath in deep, i have this jerk reaction and have to cough...do i have asthma?

is it possible i've always had this and it comes back when i get a bit sick.maybe it inflames an infection that has never been dealt with?

p.s my mother was a heavy chain smoker who smoked while she was pregnant and all through my childhood/teen years etc.
