It could be mucus or fluid build-up in connection with the cold, but could also be something totally unrelated and coincidental, like earwax.

I once had a ball of earwax that "behaved" in the way you describe, especially if I was lying down. If I turned with that ear down, the ear would be blocked, and if I turned it back up, or stood up, it would seem to go away.

In any case, go ASAP to a specialist and get yourself checked over. It's not something you can take care of yourself and in any case by now, after over two months, it's useless (and could be harmful) to continue waiting for it to go away by itself.

for 2 months? what is the deal with people on here going months with untreated symptoms?? you need to see a physician. it means something is in there i.e. fluid, inflammation, infection, obstruction -- its blocking the structures in your ears from receiving the sounds waves that produce sound. - get it checked out! the last thing you need is to lose your hearing from an infection, like swimmers ear (otitis media)

You may need small tubes inserted in your ears to drain the fluid buildup. Check with your doctor.
It is a simple procedure
