1. A child with an asthma attack needs proper attention and more importantly, they need reassurance and support. Because, extreme anxiety can worsen the problem. The presence of an immediate family members, preferably parents may help the child to take the control over the situation.
2. Parents too need lot of emotional support during the episode. It is more important to them if it is the very first episode. Give them lot of assurance and safely take them away if the child condition gets deteriorated and when further emergency management is warrented.
3. It is always better to include parents or carers when collecting history and other relevant information. Keep the information short and specific when asked.
4. If it is in home, and if the child was previously well managed on inhalers or other oral drugs, parents can take a lead role for managing the situation. However, they need to attract the medical emergency when symptoms get worsened.(..like no breathing sounds, change in skin colour and altered consciousness)
5. If the kid experiences an attack at very first time in presence of an adult, and the adult has never had previous experience on this, he/she should never wait for an second opinion. It is always better to attract an emergency service(ambulance). Meanwhile, they can reassure the child and assist them to be in upright position to ease their breathing difficulties. NEVER try to offer anything orally when the attack is severe and especially in presence of an altered consciousness.
6. While admitting the child in hospital,Parents or care givers should be able to give information on current medications that the child is on, any previous admissions, allergens, triggers and any other relevant information.
7. Teachers should aware of kids and their ailments. The child`s school diary should contain contact numbers of parents/carers, hospital, and the child specialist. Teachers should know what they have to do in a situation.
8. And finally, if you are certain with the Basic Life Support, you may proceed. Otherwise, DO NOT attempt anything that may likely to worsen the situation.
Hope,this helps

There are many disorders and topics surrounding bronchial asthma, it is motives and irritants that may influence the bronchial tubes. There are truthfully 2 varieties, atrinsic and intrinsic; the primary is the allergic sort, and the moment is brought on by way of (with ease positioned) that your frame is reacting to itself. I have the latter. It is genetic and may also be hereditary, which sucks. You're born with genes handed down. There are occasions that even fragrance motives constriction for me, and smoke could also be a aspect every now and then. Preventative protection is the important thing, as assaults occur lengthy earlier than any signs are obvious. You need to don't forget, the struggle has long gone on many years with people who smoke, non-people who smoke and it'll not ever finish. Everyone has a correct to loose will. By your remark, you undoubtedly have disorders with people who smoke. Ofcourse kids of mothers and fathers who smoke have little option within the topic. Keep in brain despite the fact that that smoking does no longer CAUSE bronchial asthma. That is an enormously fake announcement. Asthma is a sickness that motives irritation within the lungs. Period.

My daughter had asthma and I have it so here is what I know. Most of the time she was fine but during an attack she needed to remain calm, take her inhalers and relax. It is mostly supportive help. If her breathing because worse or her coloring got poor she would need to go to the hospital where they would give her breathing treatments and steroids to open her airways. Another thing that works when asthma hits is to bring the person into the bathroom and let them breath in warm mist. (run a hot shower for a few minutes, turn off the water and breath in the air)

Long ...BUT well worth the reading.

Make the connection.

I am a nurse with over 25 years experience in this area and I have seen a lot of people with various illnesses caused from chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC’s in their homes, schools and workplace. This problem is growing as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.

We are now seeing more and more children with Asthma, Allergies, Hives, Eczema and many respiratory illnesses. I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about MCS and the harm you may be doing to your health by using chemicals and fragranced products.

If you or a loved one suffers from Asthma, Allergies, Autism, chronic headaches, reproductive problems, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you need to read further and learn about the signs and symptoms of MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most doctors will not inform you about this because patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and they do not want to be told that their expensive new perfume or newly installed carpet may be the culprit. So, the doctor will give you medications and many of these meds either do not work or cause other health problems.

Chemicals and fragranced products are often the root of all evil when it comes to your health. Many of the below mentioned items are common triggers to sinus, asthma, itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your lungs will thank you and you will breathe easier.

And, it is not only personal body or cleaning products causing havoc on your health….many people become ill after wearing brand new clothing, dry-cleaned clothes, installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or after home renovations because of the Flame Retardants, Benzenes, Formaldehydes, etc. used in these products. So the answer is NO, you are not imagining that 2 weeks after your home, office or classroom got renovated you started to become ill, get dizzy or have headaches. This is happening more and more these days and adults as well as children are becoming sicker and sicker.

Unfortunately, too many doctors compound the problem by prescribing chemical medications to try to alleviate the symptoms of an already chemical overloaded body and they rarely tell the patient to eliminate the chemical offenders. How many times have I seen people in the grocery store with Bounce, Glade Plug-Ins and Febreeze in their shopping cart along with a bottle of Benadryl , Migraine Excedrin and a box of Allergy Tablets ? Why don’t they make the connection?

Here is a Brain Spect Scan Before and after a whiff of perfume:
http://www.ourlittleplace.com/spect.html

BIG NO-NO’s
No Bounce or dryer sheets
No Febreeze
No Glade Plug-ins
No scented candles
No Fragranced Products on Body, Hair or Clothing
No Smoke
No Dander
No Sprays

And remember, it is NOT the smell it is the Chemicals that make up the smell. So, even if something is "Fragrance Free" these products often mask the smell with another chemical !

More and more offices and schools are creating “Fragrance Free Zones”… why do you think this is?

Feel free to contact me on this subject.

Children with asthma can go into an attack if they are exposed to certain triggers (find out what those are), but also understand there are secondary triggers too (the usual like smoke, dust, etc.).
