I tend to agree with the assistant, you should see a doctor. Antibiotics may need to be prescribed, there may be an infection involved that if your body can't fight will only get worse.
There is also a new over the counter cough syrup I think it is called Mucenix. It is suposed to combat mucus. Hope you feel better soon if not already.

Please go to the doctor immediately.
I was in your situation and postponed going to the doctor for 2 months! I have been coughing badly too..no mucus but it has gotten worse. One day I woke up with such severe pain in my throat that I couldn't swallow or eat. So I went to the emergency room. They did give me antibiotics. They alo performed a Strep test (streptococcus ..) which came back positive:( So now I'm actually kinda sick:(
Please don't wait until you get in my situation. Treat it early.
I hope u feel better soon. However, do not take antibiotics unless prescribed by the doctor. You may have just a cold which isn't treatable with antibiotics.

You probably have a sinus infection. When you sleep, all the "gunk" slides down your throat and sits in your lungs. When you wake up and start moving around, your lungs want to get rid of this, so you cough. The fact that it is green is a very good indicator that you need an antibiotic. Yes, go to your doctor. You could be feeling better in a couple of days once you start on your antibiotic.

Check the Relative humidity (RH) in your home. Buy a digital thermometer/humidity gauge, I bought one for 14.00 dollars called acu-rite. Basically It is written in text that your home should be around 30-50 RH. My home I check yesterday for the first time was 21 and under. I have been suffering from itching, chapping, and respiratory illnesses due to too low of humidity in the home, check it out, related problems are mold as well. Go see your Doc ASAP.

You have a cough and cold.Take some pain killers if your throat is sore and carry on with the cough mixture. It will take a week or so to go.

Only a dr can diagnose what is wrong with you. You could have a simple cold or it could be like a viral infection. But it could get worse without proper treatment. Suggestion is go see a dr.
